Job Summary & Responsibilities The Foundation Engineering Organization (FEO) develops the shared platforms, mechanical architectures, subsystems, software frameworks, and engineering tools used across all Onto Innovation products. FEO ensures that every Onto product benefits from common design standards, scalable platforms, and robust engineering fundamentals—improving reliability, manufacturability, and time-to-market across the portfolio. As part of our continued focus on engineering excellence, FEO is seeking a Senior Mechanical Systems Engineer to drive mechanical systems quality, reliability, and performance across foundational modules used throughout Onto Innovation’s capital equipment platforms. Position Summary The Senior Mechanical Systems Engineer will lead mechanical system-level performance optimization, root-cause analysis, design-for-reliability enhancements, and continuous improvement initiatives across foundational modules and platform subsystems. This person will collaborate closely with mechanical, controls, electrical, and systems engineering teams to identify design risks, surface cross-product mechanical challenges, and implement durable corrective and preventive actions. This role is ideal for a mechanically oriented engineer who thrives on understanding complex capital equipment systems, eliminating recurring failure modes, improving mechanical robustness, and raising engineering standards across product lines.
