As a new Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be working across a wide range of mechanical design knowledge areas with a desired focus in HVAC design of chemical, power, and/or industrial facilities. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or greater.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer.
  • 10+ years of experience in engineering and design of HVAC systems.
  • Experience designing large scale hydronic systems.
  • Working knowledge of fire protection requirements for industrial facilities, including the IFC, NFPA standards and FM Global guidelines.
  • Desire to work in chemical, power, and industrial market segment.
  • Desire and ability to work at industrial facilities gathering data for designs (expect <10% travel).
  • Detail oriented individual.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. No sponsorship is available for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Autodesk Revit is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performing design and engineering work in various areas of the mechanical discipline, primarily heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), but also industrial piping, plumbing, central utility plants, compressed air systems, chilled water systems, steam systems, and fire protection.
  • Coordinating with other engineering disciplines to produce final construction drawings and details associated with mechanical engineering projects.
  • Developing conceptual designs and cost estimates for early stages of the project life cycle.
  • Creating design drawings utilizing Revit 3D design software.
  • Conducting or participating in investigative energy assessments to identify energy and cost savings measures.
  • Assessing and designing building ventilation systems based on requirements for heat removal in industrial spaces and maintaining indoor air quality.
  • Conducting spreadsheet analysis to assess the energy and cost savings of proposed energy conservation measures (ECMs).
  • Utilizing building modeling software to determine envelope heat gains/losses and assess savings potentials of ECMs.
  • Specifying mechanical equipment.
  • Designing plumbing and building utility piping systems.
  • Summarizing engineering results in written reports and/or presentations that are cohesive and of the highest quality.
  • Visiting job sites as required for projects involving upfit of existing systems, with a mix of day trips and overnight domestic trips expected.
  • Adhering to the policies and standards set forth in Ramboll’s Project Execution Manual.
  • Promoting and maintaining a safe working environment for all employees by adhering to Ramboll’s Health, Safety, and Environmental procedures.
