About The Position

Ceribell is a medical technology company focused on transforming the diagnosis and management of patients with serious neurological conditions. The Ceribell System is a novel, point-of-care electroencephalography (“EEG”) platform specifically designed to address the unmet needs of patients in the acute care setting, and is being used in hundreds of community hospitals, large academic facilities and major IDN's across the country. Ceribell is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support our core research and product development activities. The ideal candidate should have a solid technical background, analytical mindset, excellent interpersonal communications, and be team-oriented. This role will assist in implementing mechanical designs, conducting verification/validation/reliability tests, completing documentation and participating in DFX. This role is hybrid and requires 3-5 days in our Sunnyvale offices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 4+ years of relevant product development experience (post-bachelor's), with a track record of taking components or sub-assemblies from concept through to production.
  • Strong proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks preferred) and FEA.
  • Practical expertise in plastic injection molding, DFM/DFA, and precision tolerance analysis.
  • Experience designing for ingress protection and thermal management in portable/wearable electromechanical devices.
  • Experience with electromechanical assembly (PCBAs, Flex Cables, etc)
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a regulated environment (ISO 13485) and familiarity with medical device design controls.
  • Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset; ability to effectively communicate technical challenges and solutions to cross-functional stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement mechanical designs for complex systems, balancing user requirements, thermal performance, and industrial design constraints.
  • Proactively apply Design for Manufacturing, Assembly and Test principles (DfM/DfA/DfX). Optimize part geometry for injection molding, lead tolerance stack-up analyses, and ensure seamless integration of PCBs, cabling, and sensors.
  • Produce extensive documentation including engineering drawings, bill of materials, tolerance analysis and design reviews.
  • Interface with external vendors to manage custom part fabrication and ensure parts meet requirements.
  • Work with external testing laboratories for product compliance and certification
  • Conduct reliability testing including drop, ingress, thermal and cycle.
  • Contribute to manufacturing transfer activities, including the development of assembly fixtures, work instructions, and inspection criteria.
  • Participate in risk management activities
  • Develop verification test protocols and reports.
  • DFx: assist with assembly optimization, fixture design and manufacturing line bring-up.
