About The Position

As an Amazon Robotics Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will develop innovative hardware designs for our emerging robotics systems and improve existing hardware to optimize performance and enhance customer experience. The ideal candidate has experience designing and analyzing robotic systems, enjoys analytical problem solving and possesses practical knowledge of robotic design, fabrication, assembly, and rapid prototyping.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
  • 7+ years of engineering experience
  • Knowledge of SolidWorks or similar CAD experience and understanding of best practices for part design, and advanced assemblies
  • Experience in prototyping
  • Experience in written and verbal communication with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to executives and non-technical leaders
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, team environment
  • 6+ years of full product life cycle experience
  • Experience with use of principals, theories and concepts in mechanical engineering and experience applying them to product design
  • Experience evaluating design, performance and logistical tradeoffs for hardware systems

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production
  • Experience with the project management of technical projects
  • Master's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
  • Knowledge of SolidWorks simulation or Ansys Finite Element analysis tools
  • Experience in the design of complex mechanical products and equipment including robotic workcells with industrial robots
  • Proficiency documenting designs in accordance with ANSI Y-14.5
  • Experience designing and debugging tooled (cast, injection mold, forge, stamp, etc) components
  • Proficiency with Product Lifecycle Management PLM software and ECO’s

Responsibilities

  • Working with an interdisciplinary team to execute product designs from concept to production including specification, design, prototyping, validation and testing
  • Working with the Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Quality organizations as well as vendors to ensure a smooth product launch and sustaining
  • Writing requirements, functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures
  • Exhibit role model behaviors of thorough engineering analysis and cradle to grave ownership
  • Design and adaptation of holistic hardware solutions for ambiguous problems with fluid requirements.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams, vendors, and integrators to deliver an automation solution
  • Creating design of experiments and leading cross-functional automation of experiments
