With three offices, located in Salt Lake City, Utah as well as, Thunder Bay and Sudbury, Ontario. Nordmin is known for being responsive, practical, and forward-thinking. We’re expanding our Mechanical Engineering Department and are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer who is ready to lead complex mining and mineral processing projects from concept through completion while mentoring a growing team. This is more than a senior technical role — it’s an opportunity to lead. In this role, you will provide technical leadership, guide project execution, mentor team members, and work directly with clients to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license (U.S.) required
- 10+ years of experience in mining, mineral processing, or heavy industrial projects
- Experience working with engineering consulting firms, equipment vendors, or mining companies
- Strong project management experience from concept through commissioning
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills
- Ability to thrive in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment
- Commitment to continuous improvement and professional growth
Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical design projects from concept through detailed design and construction support
- Prepare engineering plans, calculations, and construction documents
- Develop technical specifications for equipment procurement and installation
- Lead and mentor Designers and Engineers through all phases of project development
- Coordinate with structural, electrical, and other disciplines to ensure seamless project execution
- Participate in internal and client project meetings and design reviews
- Build and maintain strong client relationships while identifying new business opportunities
- Support occasional site visits and client meetings (approximately 10% travel)
