Requirements

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering
  • 7 years’ experience
  • Fluent in English
  • Ability to lift weight upwards of 50 pounds

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant experience in mechanical design of computer/network equipment designed to operate in data centers
  • Experience in ECO, BOM and Deviation processes (Agile experience a plus)
  • Experience using ProEngineer (PTC Creo)
  • Experience with Mechanica (PTC Creo Simulate)
  • Experience with thermal simulation and air flow testing
  • Experience with liquid cooling systems
  • Experience designing sheet metal parts using soft and hard tooling guidelines
  • Plastic part design for both cosmetic and non-cosmetic uses
  • Familiarity with PDMLink (PTC Windchill)
  • Hands-on experience with tests (shock, vibe, EMC etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the mechanical design of the next module or chassis brought to market.
  • Explore solutions suggested by team members and add new solutions that blend all requirements.
  • Implement the selected design using Creo 3D CAD and provide necessary drawings, critical to function dimensions, and 3D files for prototyping and manufacturing.
  • Schedule and manage peer and cross-functional team reviews of your design and participate in reviews of other engineers' designs.
  • Structure bill of materials (BOM), release and change the product using product lifecycle management tools (Agile).
  • Provide 3D models for thermal simulations.
  • Provide PCB design drawings and 3D files to the ECAD design team, working with electrical engineers and PCB layout to address placement concerns, and checking the final PCB design.
  • Work with CMs and suppliers to address DFM concerns.
  • Work in the lab to check prototypes against the 3D MCAD design and debug design issues.
  • Communicate manufacturing issues found in the lab to the CM.
  • Travel to suppliers to troubleshoot issues or expedite builds.
  • Participate in cross-functional team meetings to resolve production sustaining issues.
