Perform, direct, and coordinate activities involved in design, analysis, fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of mechanical or electromechanical products and systems. This role involves taking a lead engineering role in all engineering aspects of projects, including design, analysis, testing, and hardware/system installation. The engineer will review customer statements of work (SOW), specifications, and manuals to ensure all requirements are met or exceeded for projects involving new product design, hardware modification, and engineering analyses. Responsibilities include designing components of mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, or heat transfer systems, preparing detailed drawings, and performing engineering analyses using FEA, CFD, and classical calculations. The role also involves analyzing air flow of jet engine test facilities using CFD, providing training on CFD and FEA theory and software, supporting marketing efforts for CFD and FEA services, staying current on engineering software and testing methods, and identifying new engineering materials. Additionally, the position requires directing personnel in fabrication and testing, coordinating fabrication and installation activities, evaluating field installations, and working with the Technical Publications Group. The engineer will also assist in developing quotes and technical proposals, manage project budgets and schedules, and evaluate engineering, manufacturing, and business processes to drive improvements. A significant part of the role involves developing, mentoring, and training Mechanical Engineering staff, and ensuring junior engineers' work meets all requirements. The engineer will also identify training needs for junior staff and act as a positive role model. All activities must be conducted in accordance with Atec International Standards Organization (AS9100/ISO) policies.
