About The Position

Raytheon’s Mechanical Analysis and Test (MA&T) Department ensures structural and thermal design robustness across its products, providing engineering solutions from preliminary concepts through fielded weapon system support. The department uses methods ranging from classical and empirical techniques to finite element analysis, complemented and validated by testing. Raytheon is seeking a mid-level career Senior Structural Engineer to perform detailed structural analyses supporting all phases of programs, including development and production. The work includes difficult problems requiring imaginative, thorough, practical solutions consistent with organizational objectives, ranging from classical hand calculations to detailed finite element analyses. The engineer will define the scope and level of analysis needed to meet objectives and complete work within agreed cost and schedule. The role includes presenting work for peer review and reviewing other engineers’ work. Customers include internal personnel and programs, as well as external government personnel and programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM), and at least 5 years of prior relevant experience; a related master’s degree may substitute for 2 years of experience, or a Ph.D. may substitute for 5 years.
  • Experience in structural analysis using PATRAN, NASTRAN, ANSYS, ABAQUS, or equivalent software.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical principles to solve classical structural engineering problems both inside and outside software tools.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment and independently.
