About The Position
GTI is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to design modular generator enclosures and integrated power platforms. The role focuses on packaging large diesel or gas generators, cooling systems, exhaust systems, and structural frames into factory-built power modules.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 7+ years of mechanical design experience in industrial equipment or power systems
- Experience designing structural steel assemblies and heavy equipment packaging
- Strong SolidWorks experience
- Experience with thermal and airflow analysis
Nice To Haves
- Experience with generator systems or engine-driven equipment
- Experience designing modular or containerized infrastructure
- Familiarity with standby power environments such as data centers or critical facilities
Responsibilities
- Design generator enclosures, equipment skids, and structural steel frames
- Package engines, alternators, radiators, and exhaust systems within modular enclosures
- Perform structural analysis of heavy equipment mounting structures and lifting frames
- Design airflow systems for engine cooling and ventilation
- Perform CFD analysis to ensure proper airflow and heat rejection
- Develop manufacturable weldments and sheet metal assemblies
- Design access systems for serviceability and maintenance
- Integrate mechanical systems with electrical switchgear and control panels
- Support prototype builds and manufacturing integration
- Lead root cause investigations tied to vibration, cooling, or structural issues
