About The Position

Ramboll is seeking experienced candidates to join the Solutions for Industry group in their Charlotte, NC office. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be working across a wide range of mechanical design knowledge areas with a focus on HVAC design of chemical, power, and/or industrial facilities. You will work alongside other experienced and entry-level engineers in an environment that values knowledge sharing for innovative designs. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or greater.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer.
  • 10+ years of experience in engineering and design of HVAC systems.
  • Experience designing large scale hydronic systems.
  • Working knowledge of fire protection requirements for industrial facilities, including the IFC, NFPA standards and FM Global guidelines.
  • Desire to work in chemical, power, and industrial market segment.
  • Desire and ability to work at industrial facilities gathering data for designs (expect <10% travel).
  • Detail oriented individual.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. No sponsorship is available.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Autodesk Revit is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performing design and engineering work in various areas of the mechanical discipline, primarily heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), but also industrial piping, plumbing, central utility plants, compressed air systems, chilled water systems, steam systems, and fire protection.
  • Coordinating with other engineering disciplines to produce final construction drawings and details.
  • Developing conceptual designs and cost estimates for early project stages.
  • Creating design drawings utilizing Revit 3D design software.
  • Assessing and designing building ventilation systems based on requirements for heat removal and indoor air quality.
  • Utilizing building modeling software to determine envelope heat gains/losses for HVAC equipment sizing.
  • Specifying mechanical equipment.
  • Designing plumbing and building utility piping systems.
  • Summarizing engineering results in written reports and/or presentations.
  • Visiting job sites as required for projects involving upfit of existing systems, with a mix of day trips and overnight domestic trips expected.
  • Adhering to Ramboll’s Project Execution Manual policies and standards.
  • Promoting and maintaining a safe working environment by adhering to Ramboll’s Health, Safety, and Environmental procedures.
