Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
About The Position
RQ Construction is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Jacksonville, Florida. This position will lead RQ's mechanical and plumbing engineering design efforts across all regions, ensuring all work aligns with U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Army standards for surveying, planning, and RFP design. Headquartered in beautiful Carlsbad, CA, we are a full-service Design-Build company. We offer management of projects throughout the United States, with our field operations' team members who work on location for each of our projects. We currently have over $1B in active and upcoming work across CA, VA, NC, SC, FL, as well as Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and Puerto Rico. We specialize in fast‑track commercial construction projects, with a strong focus on serving the Department of Defense. Requirements
- Bachelor Science Mechanical Engineering Degree – Focus on HVAC and Plumbing Engineering
- P.E. license required
- 10+ years of HVAC / Plumbing design experience within a consulting firm
- Experience with ASHRAE 90.1, 62.1 and 55
- Experience with California Title 24 Energy Code
- Experience with BIM and Revit/AutoCAD required
- Experience with sustainable design
- Experience with Design Build and other alternative delivery practices desirable
- Evidence of identity and U.S. work authorization at the time of hire.
- Successfully pass a drug screening and commercial criminal background check, including a stricter Department of Defense background check, for access to job site at military base (if applicable for position being hired for).

- LEED AP preferred
- Experience with Government/DOD projects preferred
