About The Position

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer leads the design and development of advanced mechanical systems and components for complex products and projects. This role requires strong expertise in mechanical design, engineering analysis, and a thorough understanding of manufacturing processes. Mentor junior engineers, manage high-priority projects, and collaborate with other departments to ensure designs meet performance, quality, and cost goals. Contribute to the strategic direction of the mechanical engineering team and play a pivotal role in driving product innovation and overseeing the entire product lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design engineering, with a proven track record of successfully designing complex systems and products.
  • Expertise in mechanical design principles, material selection, and engineering analysis.
  • Advanced knowledge of CAD modeling, assembly design, and technical drawing creation.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage cross-functional teams and mentor junior engineers.
  • Proven ability to solve complex engineering problems, drive innovation, and deliver high-quality results on time and within budget.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong project management skills, with experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of complex mechanical systems, components, and assemblies, with a focus on innovation, performance, and manufacturability.
  • Use advanced CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, Siemens NX) to create detailed 3D models, 2D drawings, and engineering specifications.
  • Drive the design process from concept through to production, ensuring designs meet customer requirements, industry standards, and internal specifications.
  • Perform advanced mechanical analysis, including stress, thermal, dynamic, vibration, and fluid flow simulations (using FEA, CFD, and other tools) to optimize designs and ensure performance under real-world conditions.
  • Oversee and conduct structural, material, and failure analysis to validate design choices and prevent failures.
  • Ensure designs are compliant with applicable regulatory standards (e.g., ISO, ASTM, CE) and meet safety, reliability, and durability requirements.
  • Lead, mentor, and provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level engineers, fostering an environment of collaboration, learning, and innovation.
  • Review and provide constructive feedback on design documentation, analysis, and testing efforts from other team members.
  • Lead design reviews, technical meetings, and decision-making processes to ensure the team stays aligned with project goals and timelines.
  • Work closely with engineering teams (electrical, software, manufacturing) to ensure the seamless integration of mechanical designs into larger system architectures.
  • Collaborate with project management, operations, and supply chain teams to optimize design solutions for manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and supply chain sustainability.
  • Interface with customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements, resolve technical issues, and provide solutions for mechanical design challenges.
  • Lead the creation of prototypes and oversee the testing and validation of mechanical components and systems to evaluate their performance and reliability.
  • Manage and analyze testing data to identify areas for improvement and iterate on designs based on test results.
  • Oversee the development and execution of comprehensive validation plans to ensure that designs meet both customer expectations and regulatory standards.
  • Manage and prioritize multiple projects and design tasks, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Serve as the technical lead on major projects, making key design decisions, troubleshooting issues, and driving solutions for complex technical challenges.
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, vendors, and clients to ensure that project requirements are met and that all stakeholders are informed of design progress.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by developing and implementing best practices in mechanical design processes, tools, and technologies.
  • Identify opportunities for design optimization, cost reduction, and increased product performance.
  • Stay current with the latest advancements in mechanical design, materials, and manufacturing techniques to drive innovation in product development.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed design documentation, including specifications, drawings, test plans, and reports.
  • Provide regular updates on design progress, issues, and timelines to senior management and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure all design documentation is complete, accurate, and accessible for future reference or audits.
  • Act as a technical point of contact for customer-facing issues related to mechanical design, ensuring the resolution of product defects or design concerns.
  • Address field quality issues, customer complaints, and engineering change requests (ECRs), providing solutions that minimize impact on project timelines and budgets.
