About The Position

The Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer will perform mechanical design of RF and microwave components and equipment such as connectorized products, surface mount and plug in products. This role requires the use of innovative skills and design software, including AutoCAD, Draftsight, and SolidWorks. The engineer will work on problems of moderate scope where data analysis is required for the evaluation of identifiable factors and will exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine the appropriate action. The Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer will network with senior internal members and external personnel to complete tasks within their specific area of expertise, such as knowledge on tolerance analysis, thermal and environmental analysis, and the usage of various metals, plastics, and elastomers. This person must also apply company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues. This job is a fully qualified, career-oriented, mid-to senior-level position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) required with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience OR Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering (MSME) with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Hands on Mech Engineer.
  • Must be familiar with design and drafting practices using CAD software like AutoCAD, Draftsight, and SolidWorks.
  • Must be capable of understanding if measured results are correct and agree with theory.
  • Experience with IC device clamping for RF / DC test, mechanical compression tolerancing and analysis, and Test Fixture design.
  • Must have a basic understanding of connectorized products, surface mount products and printed circuit board manufacturing methods and techniques.
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills to articulate responses to drawing requests and any questions/queries in relation to job tasks.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office Programs, Adobe Acrobat, etc.
  • Comply, understand, and support corporate safety initiatives to ensure a safe work environment.

  • Must be a US Citizen or US Permanent Resident (green card holder) due to ITAR compliance.
  • Professional and positive approach, self-motivated, strong in building relationships, team player, dynamic, and creative with the ability to work on their own initiative.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Capable of handling simultaneous projects of varying complexities.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred specialization: Mechanical Design or Test Fixture Design.
  • CAD assisted FEM for thermal, and environmental analysis highly preferred.
  • Experience with SAP preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design Mechanical parts for surface mounted or through hole insertion.
  • Design mechanical fixtures for Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuit (MMIC) packages.
  • Provide mechanical design inputs for PCB and ceramic substrates during the design phase.
  • Creating outlines and case styles of models developed by the Electrical Engineering Team.
  • Provide details for Bill of Materials of all mechanical components (e.g., carrier plates, fixtures, packing material, fasteners, or other mechanical hardware, etc.) for model designers to include in BOM.
  • Introducing new Carrier Tapes for SMT products or new packing materials, which are needed, where currently designed tapes and packing schemes cannot meet requirements.
  • Updating existing Outlines/case styles/Mechanical component designs or any other associated documentation as a result of any design errors, manufacturing process accommodation, sub-contractors, or customers’ requests.
  • Ordering Mechanical parts for prototypes from the machine shop or from outside sources.
  • Understand ISO awareness.
  • Participate in internal and external audits.

Benefits

  • Salary range: $125K - $140K
