Senior Mechanical Design Engineer - Test Equipment
About The Position
As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer - Test Equipment in Moog's Space & Defense Group, you will be responsible for the design and development of hydraulic, electro-hydraulic, electro-mechanical, servo-mechanism, and electro-pneumatic components and systems used to test Moog products. This role involves designing and developing new electrical test equipment, assemblies, and/or processes to meet cost, schedule, and performance goals, contributing to the design of test equipment that verifies the functional performance of products used on military, commercial, and space vehicles. This position can be located in either East Aurora, NY or Arvada, CO.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with 5 years’ relevant technical experience
- Self-motivated, critical thinking and strong analytical skills
Nice To Haves
- Solid modeling and drafting experience a plus
- Doors experience a plus
- Background in hydraulics preferred
Responsibilities
- Operate as key element in a team of creative, independent individuals.
- Contribute to the development of new test equipment through consulting with internal customers.
- Design hydraulic / pneumatic schematics to support new test system designs.
- Integrate hydraulic components into higher level test systems.
- Prepare, support, and guide the work of Assembly and Test technicians supporting your development activities.
- Contribute on work estimates for design and development efforts.
- Maintain engineering records, changes made and effects of changes on performance.
- Independently initiate and perform specialized research.
- Create reliable designs through a comprehensive experimental development test program.
- Document designs, analyses, and test results with accurate and concise reports.
- Shares values of “teamwork is a must” and thus good communication is key.
- Coordinate and support the assembly of test equipment.
- Mentor younger engineers where and when appropriate.
