The primary duty of the Senior Mechanic DOT position is to perform preventative maintenance on fleet equipment as assigned by the Fleet Manager or Night supervisor. This role is intended for experienced technicians with at least 8 years of experience. The Senior Mechanic will perform scheduled and routine maintenance on a wide range of equipment including tractors, trailers, refrigeration units, forklifts, pallet jacks, cars, vans, and lift gates. This role also involves providing on-site maintenance for branch locations without fleet shops, planning and executing monthly maintenance, and ensuring company equipment is in safe, working condition. The position requires prioritizing multiple competing priorities to support market demands, monitoring and following up on corrective actions, and accurately documenting work, inventory, and work orders. The Senior Mechanic will operate all company equipment safely, ensure vehicles are maintained in safe, operational condition, and utilize technology like Dossier and Samsara to enhance fleet readiness. Maintaining an organized, clean, and safety-conscious work area is also essential. Other duties may include off-site support, diesel repairs, hydraulics, welding, and unscheduled maintenance.
