About The Position

AMD's Software and Solutions Team is seeking a Senior MDC Architect to define and drive the technical architecture for next-generation data center solutions built on AMD technologies. This role requires deep expertise in enterprise infrastructure, cloud and data center architectures, workload optimization, and end-to-end solution design across compute, storage, networking, virtualization, and AI-enabled environments. The Senior MDC Architect will work closely with customers, OEMs, cloud providers, ISVs, open-source communities, and AMD engineering teams to design scalable, high-performance solutions that maximize the capabilities of AMD EPYC™, Instinct™, Pensando™, and future AMD platforms, translating customer requirements into technical architectures and influencing product direction. This highly technical architecture role is focused on innovation, technical leadership, and execution. The ideal candidate combines broad systems knowledge with deep technical expertise and thrives at solving complex infrastructure challenges while influencing strategy across engineering organizations.

Requirements

  • Deep expertise in enterprise infrastructure, cloud and data center architectures, workload optimization, and end-to-end solution design across compute, storage, networking, virtualization, and AI-enabled environments.
  • Proven track record designing enterprise and cloud infrastructure solutions at scale.
  • Deep expertise across compute, storage, networking, virtualization, operating systems, and modern application platforms, and understands how these technologies interact to deliver optimal performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Ability to discuss high-level solution architecture with executive customers and dive into low-level technical details with engineering teams.
  • Ability to translate complex requirements into practical, scalable architectures that drive customer success and platform adoption.
  • Collaborates effectively across hardware, software, product management, architecture, and ecosystem teams while serving as a trusted technical advisor to customers and strategic partners.
  • Extensive experience designing enterprise, cloud, or hyperscale infrastructure solutions, including experience collaborating with OEMs, cloud service providers, ISVs, and enterprise customers on large-scale deployments.
  • Deep understanding of x86 server architecture, virtualization technologies, Linux operating systems, containers, and Kubernetes, along with experience with modern cloud-native application architectures and distributed systems.
  • Strong knowledge of networking, storage, security, and infrastructure automation technologies.
  • Familiarity with performance engineering, workload characterization, and solution optimization for enterprise applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence technical strategy across cross-functional engineering organizations, with excellent communication and presentation skills and the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both engineering and executive audiences.
  • MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline, with significant industry experience in enterprise architecture, cloud infrastructure, systems engineering, or data center technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Define reference architectures and technical solutions for enterprise and cloud deployments built on AMD data center platforms, driving end-to-end solution architecture across compute, networking, storage, virtualization, orchestration, and software infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with customers, OEMs, cloud providers, ISVs, and open-source communities to understand workload requirements and develop optimized solution designs, providing technical leadership for strategic customer engagements, proof-of-concepts, and complex deployment initiatives.
  • Partner with silicon architecture, software engineering, product management, and ecosystem teams to influence future platform capabilities and product roadmaps.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends to identify opportunities that strengthen AMD's data center portfolio.
  • Develop architectural best practices, deployment guidance, and reference designs that accelerate customer adoption, and mentor engineering teams and solution architects by promoting architectural consistency, technical excellence, and best practices.
  • Analyze system performance, scalability, and reliability to recommend architectural improvements and optimization strategies.
  • Represent AMD as a technical expert during customer engagements, industry conferences, standards organizations, and technical forums
