About The Position

Castelion is seeking an experienced Materials & Process Engineer to serve as the company’s technical authority for solid rocket motor propellant. This role will develop, qualify, and scale propellant formulations and manufacturing processes to meet performance, production-rate, and safety requirements. The successful candidate will bring expertise in energetic materials and hands-on experience with propellant formulation, production-scale process development, and characterization. The engineer will guide energetic-material processing, operations, qualification, and safety; partner with Manufacturing Engineering and Propulsion Engineering to scale mixing and casting; establish quality assurance and qualification testing; and develop material specifications, process controls, and test plans. The role also supports investigations and continuous improvement related to propellant performance, manufacturability, and safety. The role requires a relevant bachelor’s degree and at least five years of energetic-materials experience. A relevant master’s degree is preferred. The employee must be authorized to work in the United States and meet ITAR eligibility requirements, be willing to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed, and be able to travel up to 20%. Castelion describes its environment as fast-paced, autonomously driven, and demanding. Employees receive long-term stock incentives, access to medical, vision, and dental insurance, and paid time off. The posting gives conflicting PTO amounts: three weeks in one section and four weeks in another.
