This role is for a Senior Materials and Processes Engineer on the JETS II contract team at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. The engineer will advise, guide, and consult on Materials & Processes (M&P) requirements for both intravehicular (IVA) and extravehicular (EVA) environments. This includes materials selection, process control and qualification, design for corrosion prevention, electrical bonding, flammability, toxic offgassing, and process specifications. The position involves assisting in the review and development of hardware, analysis, operations, hazard reviews, anomaly resolution, requirements verification, re-flight assessments, and flight acceptance testing. The engineer will also formulate and present information to program boards, implement M&P system requirements into hardware design, develop verification and validation plans, and provide input to program/project specifications. A key responsibility is reviewing project/program documentation, specifications, and engineering drawings to ensure M&P requirements are met for spaceflight hardware, assessing vendor processes, and providing recommendations for qualification and acceptance testing. The role also includes providing inspection and manufacturing process support for human space flight systems.
