About The Position

The purpose of this position is to provide essential administrative work processes, technical knowledge, and direction as listed. This role has the responsibility to promote Fluor’s competitiveness within the global marketplace by delivering quality services of unmatched value and technical competence. This position serves as a Discipline Lead Material Controller on assigned projects of difficult complexity and size and/or Multi Discipline Lead Material Control Coordinator or Manager on projects of difficult complexity. Displays advanced knowledge of Fluor’s practices and guidelines. Provides senior leadership for electrical material control execution across projects, ensuring alignment with project objectives, company standards, client requirements, procurement strategy, construction priorities, and global material control practices. Oversees material planning, purchasing, expediting, supplier quality surveillance, logistics, field material management, quantity tracking, forecasting, budgets, staffing, deviation control, and reporting. Directs and audits project material control work processes, material management software execution, material data governance, SEL, AREVA, or similar design software package workflows, MDU/3D/2D material workflows, dashboards, forecasting tools, and material baseline change management; experience with MaterialManager℠ (MATMAN), UNISON data standards, or similar systems is considered an asset. Leads cross-functional coordination with engineering, procurement, construction, project controls, project management, clients, suppliers, licensors, and joint venture partners to resolve material issues and support fabrication and construction readiness. Develops, reviews, and approves material control plans, procedures, estimates, schedules, progress reports, logistics strategies, standards, practices, and functional improvement initiatives. Mentors personnel, supports training and capability development, provides technical and administrative direction, and contributes to global material control improvements, business rules, catalog governance, and knowledge management.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 to 10 years of electrical design, 3D modeling, and electrical material control experience in industrial project environments.
  • Post-secondary qualification in electrical design, electrical engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical material control processes, including material planning, take-offs, Bills of Material, RFQs, purchase order support, expediting, supplier coordination, logistics, and material status reporting.
  • Advanced proficiency with material management software, material attributes, catalogue data, standard installation details, discipline drawings, dashboards, forecasting tools, quantity tracking, and progress reporting; experience with MaterialManager℠ (MATMAN), UNISON data standards, or similar systems is considered an asset.
  • Experience supporting SEL, AREVA, or similar design software packages, MDU setup, 3D/2D material workflows, and design-to-material control integration.
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, coordination, and stakeholder management skills across engineering, procurement, construction, project controls, suppliers, clients, and project leadership.
  • Ability to lead material control execution, resolve complex material issues, support construction readiness, and align material priorities with project objectives.
  • Strong judgment, problem-solving ability, accountability, attention to detail, and commitment to data quality, governance, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to review, approve, and improve material control plans, procedures, estimates, schedules, reports, logistics strategies, standards, and functional work processes.
  • Ability to support multiple projects or major project scopes while guiding teams, managing priorities, and communicating risks, trends, and corrective actions clearly.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with MaterialManager℠ (MATMAN), UNISON data standards, or similar systems is considered an asset.
  • Experience supporting SEL, AREVA, or similar design software packages, MDU setup, 3D/2D material workflows, and design-to-material control integration.
  • Experience supporting mining projects, large EPC projects, or complex industrial construction environments is considered an asset.
