About The Position

The Senior Material Control & Accountability (MC&A) Specialist will support the National Nuclear Security Administration’s Office of Defense Nuclear Security (NA-70) MC&A program. This full-time position is available for the right person to work remotely. The Senior MC&A Specialist will perform technical support to the Office of Security Operations and Programmatic Planning’s (NA-71) Material Control & Accountability (MC&A) Program Implementation Support function.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • An active DOE Q security clearance.
  • 10+ years experience in supporting MC&A activities.
  • Must have excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and with minimal direction and supervision.
  • Possess extreme confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Demonstrate the ability to prioritize, monitor, and work on multiple projects and tasks concurrently.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or related field.
  • 15+ years experience supporting MC&A activities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to the implementation of Material Control and Accountability (MC&A) at NNSA sites.
  • Support standardized implementation of effective and efficient MC&A programs that are tailored to a well characterized risk to include identifying common MC&A requirements for Category III and IV amounts of special nuclear material.
  • Facilitate consistent implementation that is defensible from a risk management perspective with measurable performance to include the development of an MC&A Performance Testing Working Group.
  • Provide a technical basis for designing MC&A programs in the context of the nuclear material inventory holdings and the missions of the NNSA sites.
  • Provide technical support to the effort to modernize the Local Area Nuclear Material Accounting Software (LANMAS) to include developing requirements and software testing.
  • Provide Technical Support to MC&A Program Manager to assist in: Continued development of information to be included in Implementing Directions; Budget development and validation process to support the NNSA Program and Resource reviews; Technical support services to execute requirements and analyses to ensure regulatory compliance; Technical support to the DNS In-Teach initiative in the area of MC&A to include conducting and monitoring courses, scheduling and identifying resources for courses, updating training materials, and tracking progress.
