About The Position

Rho is seeking a Senior Marketing Manager to establish and lead its presence in the Boston market. This role will be responsible for community engagement, strategic partnerships, brand building, demand generation, and customer growth within the Boston startup ecosystem. The successful candidate will manage a pipeline target, a dedicated budget, and collaborate closely with the local sales team. This is a highly visible, hands-on role requiring active participation in the local market, including engaging with venture capitalists, visiting customer offices, and attending relevant events. The role is designed for someone who can operate with a high degree of autonomy and drive results in a dynamic environment.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in marketing, community building, partnerships, brand management, or growth roles at a venture-backed company.
  • Experience in B2B SaaS, fintech, biotech, or life sciences is highly desirable.
  • High level of initiative and ability to operate autonomously, forming and acting on strategic points of view.
  • Demonstrated track record of growing a business, product line, market, or community, with the ability to articulate the impact of actions.
  • Comfort and willingness to be actively present in the market, engaging with VCs, visiting customer offices, and building face-to-face relationships.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with founders and other stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and financial management, including reading pipeline dashboards, managing budgets, and interpreting growth experiment results.
  • Established network within the Boston founder, operator, or VC community, or a clear plan to build one rapidly.
  • Proven experience owning and driving pipeline numbers, understanding sourced pipeline metrics.
  • Ability to host successful events that attract founders and build compounding personal relationships.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) with a commitment to maintaining strong hygiene.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of leading groups and briefing internal teams.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to execute scrappily and manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience as a founder, operator, accelerator alum, or in a venture community role.
  • Previous experience in or around biotech or academic research.

Responsibilities

  • Own and drive the sourced pipeline number for the Boston market, setting targets and executing strategies to achieve them.
  • Increase Rho's customer base in Boston by identifying and closing expansion opportunities within existing accounts and nurturing high-value relationships.
  • Collaborate closely with the Boston sales representative on targeting, follow-up, and account coverage to ensure seamless demand generation and closing processes.
  • Actively engage in the Boston market by meeting with VCs and accelerators, visiting customer offices, and attending key industry events.
  • Build and cultivate the founder community in Boston by hosting engaging events such as roundtables, lab tours, dinners, and salons, and curating guest lists.
  • Develop and manage partnerships with key university and campus programs, including Harvard iLab and MIT Martin Trust Center, to tap into the founder pipeline.
  • Define and execute Rho's market presence in Boston through sponsorships, local press, activations, and founder-focused content, in partnership with the brand and creative team.
  • Design and implement local growth experiments, including geo-targeted paid campaigns, branded search, account-based marketing (ABM) for top Boston accounts, and tailored lifecycle nurturing for Boston founders.
  • Independently define and execute marketing strategies, documenting learnings and adapting approaches based on market feedback and performance.
