We are seeking an enthusiastic and creative Senior Marketing & Communications Coordinator to support and advance the Library’s marketing and communications efforts. The ideal candidate will be a skilled communicator with experience developing engaging content, coordinating multi-channel marketing campaigns, and promoting programs and services to diverse audiences. To be considered for this opportunity, applicants must complete the Supplemental Questions, which include the submission of work samples demonstrating relevant marketing and communications experience. Spanish bilingual skills are strongly preferred. Candidates who successfully complete the interview process will be added to a pre-qualified list and may be considered for other vacancies that arise in the next twelve months. Under general direction of the Communications Director, the Senior Marketing & Communications Coordinator plans, develops, coordinates, and oversees a wide variety of digital and print marketing and communications activities that promote library programs, services, resources, and initiatives. This position provides excellent customer service while creating and coordinating content across multiple platforms, including social media, email marketing, websites, radio, exterior communications, press releases, publications, and other promotional materials. The position collaborates closely with library staff to develop effective messaging, strengthen community engagement, support brand consistency, and ensure communications are accessible, timely, and impactful.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to bachelor’s degree with major coursework in marketing, communications, writing, or a related field; and three (3) years of marketing and/or communications experience, and/or the development of public education programs and materials.
  • Additional years of experience can be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
  • Knowledge of marketing and communications concepts, processes, and procedures, including use of various media and messaging tools and techniques.
  • Knowledge of basic methods, principles, and practices of library activities and programs.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, codes, and guidelines related to the projects and programs to which assigned.
  • Knowledge of current library marketing platforms and tools.
  • Knowledge of English usage, grammar, spelling, vocabulary, and punctuation.
  • Knowledge of techniques for providing excellent customer service when dealing with vendors, contractors, and library staff.
  • Knowledge of principles and techniques to provide training and direction to adults in the marketing and communications field.
  • Knowledge of principles of leading and developing skills in others.
  • Knowledge of in-house and outside advertising.
  • Knowledge of marketing and social media platforms.
  • Ability to use innovation to create effective marketing, informational, and communications messages relative to library programs, projects, services, and activities.
  • Ability to visualize abstract ideas and concepts and translate them into effective and impactful marketing.
  • Ability to support the creation of neat and accurate marketing collateral and publications requiring meticulous attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Provides excellent customer service, plans, develops, and oversees a variety of digital and print marketing and communications activities, including email, social media, radio, website content, exterior communications, and press releases.
  • May direct, schedule, train, develop, and review work of other marketing staff, including Marketing Specialists.
  • Develops materials that support the department’s brand messaging strategy and objectives, engage the public, and identify innovative methods to bring targeted messages to market.
  • Works with library staff to review, produce, and evaluate a variety of marketing and communication materials to promote library programs and services.
  • Organizes and directs the workflow for marketing and communications staff and participates in the planning, reviewing, development, and production of marketing and communications materials, publications, campaigns, signage, and documents.
  • Trains others in the development of library social media, email, print and radio marketing campaigns.
  • Creates original content for a variety of library marketing and communications materials.
  • Supports the production of publications and collateral, including banners, posters, brochures, flyers, bookmarks, forms, newsletters, special exhibits, and a variety of other digital and print marketing collateral, by providing timely content and proofreading.
  • Stays abreast of and utilizes marketing and communications tools and techniques to effectively complete projects.
  • Delivers work-related training and support to other staff in the Communications unit.
  • Archives and retrieves marketing and communications documents, plans, and strategies.
  • Learn emerging technologies and share techniques with other teammates.
  • Performs duties in an efficient, organized, and timely manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.
