As a Senior Market Data Analyst you’ll work on applying and enhancing methods of assessing market data integrity, automating regular procedures and promoting timely data analysis. You’ll work with the wider Capital Markets Risk Management team to enhance and document our data models and help define requirements for our strategic market data platforms. At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 2-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

Requirements

  • Strong capital markets and technical knowledge.
  • Strong understanding of market and credit data, as well as Capital Markets products including Money Market, FX Commodities, Equities, Credit, Derivatives, Futures, and OTC products.
  • Knowledge of key risk concepts such as VaR, Monte Carlo simulation, basis etc.
  • Solid foundation in statistics, time series analysis, and financial derivatives.
  • Strong technical proficiency in SQL, Python and Excel.
  • A degree in a quantitative discipline, such as mathematics, physics, statistics, computer science, or mathematical finance / financial engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively ensure that market risk data is captured in CMRM’s systems in a complete and timely manner.
  • Work with Risk Managers to understand the impact and appropriate resolutions for potential gaps or errors in market data.
  • Work with Solutions teams to implement protection against reoccurrence of data gaps or errors.
  • Ensure that data received from internal and external sources are properly captured, processed and delivered to downstream systems.
  • Perform analysis on available historical data using a variety of techniques, and clean or enhance the data available where required.
  • Assist in the research and introduction of new risk factors, including the process of introducing new vendors where required.
  • Identify impactful data movements and adjustments, record these clearly, and communicate these changes, and the impact on risk calculations, to the risk managers.
  • Help track, agree resolution and acquire related approvals for data issues as they are identified and resolved.
  • Write concise and specific procedure instructions, as well as preparing detailed governance documents to describe decisions that control critical day to day operations.
  • Assist in providing daily summaries of production data issues, and help provide ad-hoc data reports as requested.
  • Support analysis of new and alternative sources of data.
  • Help improve the automation of regular processes and controls, with a focus on enhancement of existing methodologies.
  • Develop improvements that reduce operational risk and increase efficiency while retaining critical human decision making and expertise.
  • Help define the requirements for changes to our Market Data systems, and perform UAT testing on enhancements prior to production.
  • Follow CIBC’s governance processes, and recommend improvements to Control procedures as appropriate.
