About The Position

We are looking for a Senior Marine Structural Engineer to join our growing team. We are open to filling this position in any of our Atlantic Canada offices including Fredericton, Moncton, Saint John, Grand Falls, Bathurst, Halifax or St. John’s. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited University
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in civil engineering including specific expertise in marine structures.
  • Adaptability to represent GEMTEC professionally with clients, developers, or contractors
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills needed to convey technical ideas clearly
  • Eligibility to register or are currently registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with one or more of the Atlantic provinces
  • Proven ability to manage projects
  • Ability to obtain security clearance
  • Valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Providing engineering designs for civil infrastructure projects (ports, harbours and bridges)
  • Working with diverse teams of discipline managers, engineers, designers and technicians
  • Managing projects and being responsible for completion on schedule and financial performance
  • Acting as a technical resource and as a mentor to junior/intermediate staff
  • Writing, compiling and reviewing technical reports
  • Preparing fee proposals
  • Being a member of site visit teams, gathering information as required to complement design activities
  • Maintaining quality throughout a project and implement improvements when determined
  • Preparing regular project summary reports
  • Encouraging growth within the group and increasing the general knowledge base throughout the company
  • Developing and sustaining long-lasting business relationships with clients
  • Identifying and mitigating potential hazards in the field or onsite, promoting a safe working environment.
