About The Position

Pantheon Data is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to provide engineering support to the United States Coast Guard - Surface Forces Logistics Center in the Baltimore, Maryland metro area. This role is within the Maritime Lifecycle Readiness Division and focuses on marine auxiliary systems. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of ABS, USN, and industry standards relating to shipboard auxiliary systems.
  • Minimum of 6 years' documented experience with design, optimization, and integration of marine auxiliary and piping systems, ship machinery integration, cargo handling systems, and weight handling systems calculations and analyses.
  • Progressively responsible experience in marine specific fields (i.e. auxiliary systems, piping systems, fluids and hydraulics).
  • Experience with Auto-CAD.
  • Familiarity with ABS, NVR, and commercial ship design rules and regulations.
  • Ability to work effectively remotely in cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and produce quality work.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite software including Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, and PowerPoint.
  • U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in design, development, and evaluation of the operation of marine systems, ship machinery, and related equipment, such as auxiliary systems, HVAC&R, piping systems.
  • Support the US Coast Guard reviewing third party design modifications and improvements to mechanical systems and components.
  • Perform design reviews, evaluating constructability, helping resolve technical issues, and managing information generated through the design and construction phases.
  • Conduct analyses of various auxiliary systems, lead development of technical data packages and reviews.
  • Conduct trade studies regarding auxiliary system configuration.
  • Conduct mechanical engineering analysis.
  • Create graphical representations of structures and systems.
  • Inspect auxiliary equipment or systems.
  • Assist in research of advanced engineering designs or applications.
  • Prepare technical reports for internal use.
  • Design, develop and evaluate operation of marine vessels, shipboard auxiliary systems and piping review.
  • Develop technical data packages.
  • Provide oversight on development of machinery arrangements.
  • Conduct and oversee trade studies.
  • Lead engineers in development efforts.
  • Coordinate with other functional areas to complete ship design.
