About The Position

The Operations Engineering Systems Engineering Lead (OSE) serves as the technical lead for production systems, bridging the gap between design engineering and operational execution. This role is responsible for translating systems engineering criteria into actionable production test plans and providing subject matter expertise for Marine, Power, and Space business units. The OSE handles the most complex technical challenges and ensures the successful transfer of technical knowledge throughout the production cycle.

Requirements

  • Degree or diploma in Computer, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in systems engineering, hardware integration, or testing within a complex engineering environment.
  • Proficient in French and English.
  • Must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a government of Canada Reliability status and Secret Level 2/NATO Secret security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in high-precision electromechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with simulation solutions for marine or power sectors, including nuclear power plant simulators.
  • Knowledge of IT networking, signal wiring, and communication protocols.
  • Familiarity with IPC standards (IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620) and J-STD-001 is considered a strong asset.
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing conflicting technical objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive testing plans based on criteria received from Systems Engineering to ensure product quality and functional compliance.
  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for designated business units, providing technical guidance on complex Marine, Power, or Space systems.
  • Lead the technical transition and knowledge transfer to the next generation of employees.
  • Provide technical input for cost proposals and participate in technical baseline reviews.
  • Review hardware and engineering documentation to verify production feasibility and identify potential technical risks.
  • Support and resolve technical issues for the most difficult or complex projects within the department.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering and software teams to lead root cause investigations for system-level failures.
  • Function as a technical liaison between the production floor and the design engineering group to resolve non-standard technical problems.
  • Verify that integrated systems meet all established functional and safety criteria before final customer acceptance.
  • Provide technical training, coaching, and mentorship to the integration and assembly teams.
  • Develop training materials and work instructions to standardize technical procedures across the production floor.
  • Ensure the technical team maintains a high level of competency in troubleshooting and systems integration.
