About The Position

CGI Inc, a Timken company, is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Quality Engineer (MQE) to join their team in Carson City, Nevada. This role is crucial for investigating, managing, analyzing, coordinating, responding to, and reporting on customer returns via Return Material Authorizations (RMAs) and internal Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs). The MQE will collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers to implement corrective and preventive actions, audit suppliers on quality issues, and coordinate the qualification of new equipment and special processes. The position also involves assisting in programming inspection equipment, supporting operations with in-process inspection methods, and contributing to new product/program activities such as Process FMEAs, Control Plans, Capability Studies, and PPQP. The MQE will monitor customer quality ratings, resolve Corrective Action/Preventative Actions (CAPA), and support customers with documentation and feedback. This role works closely with the Director of Manufacturing Engineering on priorities and the implementation of Lean and other improvement projects.

Requirements

  • B.S.M.E. or similar engineering degree, or B.S. with Industrial Technology or Engineering coursework
  • At least three years’ experience as a Quality or Manufacturing Engineer or similar role
  • Knowledgeable of mechanical principles and machining practices.
  • Familiar with statistical process controls and measurements.
  • Understanding of gear manufacturing and measurement techniques.
  • Knowledge of Standard Drafting Practices and GD&T application.
  • Familiar with ISO9000, ISO13485, and AS9100 quality systems.
  • Experience with MiniTab or similar statistical software.
  • Familiar with inspection tools like CMM and Vision Systems.
  • Able to integrate methods with innovations to solve production issues efficiently.
  • Self-motivated and works well with minimal supervision.
  • Effective oral and written communication across all levels and with external partners.
  • Organized, manages time, and prioritizes tasks well.
  • Applies problem-solving to identify root causes and prevent recurrence.
  • Working knowledge of computer systems and ERP software.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean practices preferred.
  • Drafting skills in Solidworks and AutoCAD preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs problem-solving and root cause analysis on customer returns.
  • Communicates promptly with customers on returns and quality issues.
  • Generates monthly RMA and NCR summaries.
  • Works with Manufacturing Engineers on Corrective and Preventive Actions.
  • Prepares Process FMEAs, Control Plans, Capability Studies, Gage R&Rs, PPQP, and Capacity Studies as needed.
  • Assists in special process validations.
  • Prepares and executes installation, operational, and software validation protocols.
  • Handles process change request requirements.
  • Programs and sets up inspection equipment.
  • Prioritizes inspection and quality projects with the Director of Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Monitors new inspection technologies and recommends practical applications.
  • Performs other assigned duties.
