About The Position

The Role: The Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer is responsible for developing manufacturing processes, equipment/tooling alternatives, and sequence and flow of operations for the effective utilization of personnel, material, machines, and facilities necessary for the production of parts and assemblies. Work is performed in a centralized manufacturing engineering activity and/or plant environment where a considerable amount of creativity and initiative is exercised, as well as a high level of independent judgment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in automotive manufacturing.
  • Solid understanding of GD&T principles and vehicle build.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes, with the ability to see interactions across Body, Paint, and GA.
  • Familiarity with CAD software and ability to interpret models and dimensional data.
  • Experience with PFMEA, Process Control Plans (PCPs), and structured root cause analysis / PPS.
  • Basic knowledge of tooling and automation (fixtures, error proofing, robotics, conveyance).
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for documentation, analysis, and presentations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and partner with senior management to analyze and solve issues.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate technical data into clear actions.
  • Flexibility to work different shifts as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting new vehicle program launches.
  • Familiarity with GM launch methodologies, error-proofing standards, and plant quality systems.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement sufficiency plans and continuous improvement activities to meet specific uptime, tool cost, quality, and maintainability objectives
  • Responsible for all documentation of the process including Process Control Plans, Tool and Equipment Bulletins, PFMEAs, and other equipment documentation including standardized work (TISs and more)
  • Work with and support Maintenance activities, resolving equipment issues resulting in downtime of the equipment and tooling
  • Work with Manufacturing and Quality department in problem solving customer issues and developing short term corrective actions as well as long term irreversible solutions
  • Manage process-related projects including installation of new or replacement equipment, continuous improvement initiatives, and periodic repair and refurbishment
  • Implement projects including estimating, project budget management and forecasting, development of timelines and equipment qualification investigate equipment problems and provide technical input for problem resolution
