About The Position

Dover Food Retail (DFR) is seeking a senior-level manufacturing engineer to improve manufacturing processes in a highly automated glass process line. The role focuses on safety, quality, and productivity to achieve key performance indicators and company goals. Requirements

  • Four (4) year degree is required; a degree in an Engineering discipline is preferred.
  • Five (5) years of experience in the glass manufacturing processes, glass thermal tempering process, and equipment troubleshooting.
  • Three (3) years of Engineering experience implementing or optimizing high-automation processes.
  • Strong project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Experienced in Glass manufacturing processes: Cutting, seaming, thermal tempering, silk-screen printing, and paint coating.
  • Experienced in troubleshooting glass automation equipment, HMI, and recipe creation.
  • Ability to build trust and interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to identify opportunities to improve complex manufacturing systems.
  • Coordinate and support new product introduction and department expansions.
  • Presentation of technical information.
  • Experience with 2D CAD (3D is a plus).
  • Experience with facility layout design.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing processes by developing, evaluating, and improving methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials, fabrication processes, tooling, production equipment, assembly methods, and quality control standards.
  • Analyzes and plans workforce utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs equipment and workspace layout for maximum efficiency and safety.
  • Serves as the technical expert for all matters related to glass manufacturing processes, including glass thermal tempering, paint coating, silk-screen printing, and glass lamination.
  • Acts as a technical advisor for glass equipment and technology, providing support during installation, recipe setup, and associate training.
  • Confers with the technical team on troubleshooting and repair activities.
  • Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.
  • Provides design input to New Product Development (NPD) and Design to Value (DTV) engineering teams to ensure optimal manufacturability for glass products.
  • Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, equipment layout, and establishing/implementing Design For Manufacture (DFM) plans.
  • Evaluates capital equipment investments, coordinates quotes, prepares cost justifications, and manages the implementation and success of capital equipment projects.
  • Conducts make vs. buy analysis of components of the existing product.
  • Coordinates project implementation by monitoring and assigning daily tasks and schedules to third-party technical service companies, automation companies, and internal project members.
  • Provides accurate and timely project progress and results tracking.
  • Leads advanced problem-solving teams as assigned.
