About The Position

We are seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to serve as a technical leader in process and manufacturing engineering at our San Jose, California site. The Sr. ME will have broad manufacturing scope while maintaining deep expertise in metals fabrication concentrated in machining processes. This role not only drives high-impact process improvements but also guides and mentors other engineers and technicians, supports strategic initiatives, and partners with leadership to scale operations for growth. This role supports base business improvement and/or new product launches, develops tooling and fixtures, implements lean methodology, leads root cause problem solving events, identifies and implements improvement opportunities, manages CAPAs, and creates documentation such as standard work and validation protocols. The engineer leads cross-functional collaboration to optimize designs for manufacturability & cost and communicates effectively with internal teams and customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field.
  • 15+ years of experience in manufacturing, with demonstrated expertise in metals fabrication processes.
  • Proven track record of leading process transformations (automation, lean deployment, capacity scaling).
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to balance tactical firefighting with long-term strategic improvements.
  • Proven experienced in GD&T interpretation and application.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Experience in medical device manufacturing or other highly regulated industry preferred.

  • Certification in Lean, Six Sigma, or Project Management preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership in the development, validation, and maintenance of machining processes, associated plating, and cross-process integration.
  • Lead large-scale projects such as capacity expansion, automation, technology transfer, or new product launches.
  • Develop and justify capital equipment investments and process technology roadmaps.
  • Partner with quality and regulatory teams to ensure compliance requirements are met
  • Advise estimating team on cost drivers and capability and influence DFM decisions with customers and design engineers.
  • Collaborate with development, programmers, estimators, machinists and suppliers to evaluate designs for manufacturability and cost reduction.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives with measurable impact on cost, throughput, and quality.
  • Communicate effectively with both shop-floor teams and executive leadership.
  • Create, review and approve engineering drawings, equipment layouts, change orders and specifications.
  • Mentor and provide day-to-day guidance to junior engineers and technicians.
  • Create and execute validation protocols, processes and material evaluations.
  • Plan and execute large scale projects with minimum supervision, on time and within budget to achieve tangible results while providing daily guidance to assigned project resources.
  • Mentor and develop less-experienced staff.
  • Take ownership of technical issues related to the machining value stream.
  • Drive improvements through root cause analysis and data driven decision-making.
  • Participate in cross-functional project teams to implement creative solutions.
  • Ensure internal and external customer expectations are met or exceeded.
