About The Position

International Motors is hiring a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to support its growing San Antonio operation. This hands-on manufacturing role works alongside Production, Maintenance, Quality, and skilled trades to troubleshoot equipment failures, minimize downtime, improve manufacturing processes, and support tooling development and production launches. The position supports General Assembly operations and requires ownership of technical challenges to keep production safe and efficient. The role will initially work Day Shift, Monday through Thursday, 5:30 AM–4:00 PM, and transition to Night Shift as the operation ramps up in early 2027. The Night Shift schedule is Monday through Thursday, 5:30 PM–4:00 AM. A 10% shift differential applies upon transitioning to Night Shift. This salaried position supports a manufacturing operation; employees may need to work outside normal production hours, including extended shifts, startup activities, recovery efforts, and occasional weekends, according to operational requirements.

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 1 year of product manufacturing experience; or a master's degree and no experience; or at least 3 years of product manufacturing experience.
  • Candidates, excluding current employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (U.S. Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee, or Asylee) to work in the United States. The employer does not anticipate providing employment-related work sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience programming and troubleshooting Atlas Copco torque tools and controllers, including torque-angle strategies, tightening trace analysis, tool capability verification, and fastening traceability.
  • Demonstrated ownership of manufacturing processes, tooling, equipment, and production support in automotive, truck, heavy equipment, aerospace, or similar advanced manufacturing.
  • Experience leading complex downtime investigations, identifying root causes, implementing lasting corrective actions, and verifying production recovery.
  • Experience leading assembly, tooling, automation, equipment, or capital projects from concept through production ramp-up, including SOWs, technical specifications, supplier requirements, acceptance criteria, installation, commissioning, and validation.
  • Experience applying Lean methods and manufacturing data to improve safety, quality, throughput, uptime, and cost through assembly process development, error proofing, ergonomics, and cycle-time reduction.
  • Hands-on experience integrating automated manufacturing systems, AGVs, and tooling controls; troubleshooting equipment using mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic schematics and PLC/HMI diagnostics with Maintenance and controls specialists.
  • Experience using Teamcenter, 3D product visualization, CAD, or digital manufacturing systems to support process and tooling development.
  • Experience developing and maintaining PFMEAs, control plans, process flows, and standardized work, and supporting APQP, PPAP, and run-at-rate studies for production readiness.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams across Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Product Engineering, Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, suppliers, and skilled trades; independently prioritizing production issues and projects, making technical decisions under pressure, and guiding less-experienced engineers and technicians.
  • Experience evaluating engineering drawings, GD&T, and tolerance stack-ups to resolve assembly fit and tooling issues.
  • Experience applying SPC, process capability analysis, and MSA/Gage R&R to validate process consistency and measurement reliability.
  • Experience managing engineering changes, including manufacturing impact assessments, tooling and process updates, validation, and controlled production release.

Responsibilities

  • Create and support Statements of Work, project specifications, and technical requirements.
  • Establish and maintain manufacturing processes that meet product specifications and operational targets.
  • Evaluate internal and supplier-driven processes for component quality and manufacturing readiness.
  • Support new vehicle programs through readiness reviews, launch planning, validation, and production ramp-up.
  • Partner with Advanced Manufacturing Engineering to install, commission, and validate new equipment and production systems.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing challenges, identify root causes, and implement sustainable corrective actions.
  • Design and support fixtures, jigs, tooling, gauges, and assembly aids.
