We will rely on your professional expertise to develop, implement and maintain methods, operation sequence and processes in the manufacturing or fabrication of parts, components, sub-assemblies and final assemblies. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will develop strong communications with internal teams to estimate manufacturing costs, determine time standards and make recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines. At GDMS, we continually seek ways to develop and improve manufacturing methods, utilizing our team’s knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field, plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree, plus 6 months relevant experience.
  • Solid knowledge with manufacturing processes and electrical/mechanical components, systems and applications.
  • Solid understanding of lean techniques and statistical analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and maintain methods, operation sequence and processes in the manufacturing or fabrication of parts, components, sub-assemblies and final assemblies.
  • Develop strong communications with internal teams to estimate manufacturing costs, determine time standards and make recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines.
  • Continually seek ways to develop and improve manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.
  • Creating and maintaining SMT processes such as stencil design, solder paste application, pick-and-place, reflow profiling, AOI, and X-ray inspection.
  • Optimizing solder paste selection, placement parameters, and reflow profiles to improve yield and reduce defects.
  • Leading troubleshooting, root cause analysis, preventive maintenance, and machine programming for SMT equipment.
  • Monitoring SPC trends, defect Paretos, and implementing corrective actions for issues like solder bridging, opens, voiding, and tombstoning.
  • Conducting DFM/DFA evaluations for new product introductions.
  • Assisting production technicians with process deviations, equipment issues, and new product introductions.
  • Developing work instructions, SOPs, and training operators.
