About The Position

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for analyzing and optimizing manufacturing processes to reduce costs, scrap, and cycle times. This role provides hands-on troubleshooting on the production floor to ensure continuity of operations. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will collaborate with Application Engineering teams to ensure product manufacturability (DFM), develop manufacturing plans, create required work instructions/procedures, and ensure seamless design transfer to production. This role also involves designing, procuring, and installing manufacturing tools, jigs, fixtures, and automated equipment. Additionally, the Senior Manufacturing Engineer will create and maintain SOPs, work instructions, and Manufacturing Bill of Materials (MBOMs), mentor junior engineers and technicians, and lead cross-functional project teams. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent Technical Degree.
  • 7-10+ years in a manufacturing engineering role (or equivalent) within a highly regulated industry (aerospace, medical device, etc.).
  • Proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo) and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
  • Strong knowledge of Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and root cause analysis (RCA).
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
  • Ability to travel to customer or supplier sites as needed.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language proficiently to ensure compliance with our ISO 13485 procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on troubleshooting on the production floor to ensure continuity of operations.
  • Collaborate with Application Engineering teams to ensure product manufacturability (DFM).
  • Develop manufacturing plans and create required work instructions/procedures.
  • Ensure seamless design transfer to production.
  • Design, procure, and install manufacturing tools, jigs, fixtures, and automated equipment.
  • Create and maintain SOPs, work instructions, and Manufacturing Bill of Materials (MBOMs).
  • Mentor junior engineers and technicians and lead cross-functional project teams.
  • Provide temporary or permanent supervision as assigned.
  • Apply logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with others.
  • Apply project management skills and manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Employ root cause analysis to resolve complex technical and process issues and derive solutions.
  • Understand and interpret specifications on drawings and translate into a workable process to meet customer design requirements.
  • Lead capital equipment projects/implementing.
  • Develop and implement Lean /Six Sigma initiatives.
  • Troubleshoot designing for manufacturability (DFM).
  • Write IQ/OQ/PQ validation protocols and conduct process validations (IQ/OQ/PQ) for new equipment and process changes and write summary reports for review and approval of all validations.
  • Work with vendors on product specifications and mechanical component selection for continuous improvement.
  • Identify potential fixturing, tooling, or equipment upgrades and/or new equipment requirements, and complete cost analysis and justification for any capital request.
  • Train other personnel on new or existing manufacturing processes and procedures.
  • Identify, evaluate, and purchase non-capital expenditures to support engineering activity.
  • Create and complete a complex machine or equipment design in a CAD program and generate detailed drawings for assembly or fabrication (currently, using SolidWorks).
  • Consistently maintain status tasks using project management software.
