Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Speech and Language.
  • Licensed in the state required for services (Michigan and/or Indiana).
  • 5 or more years of experience working with a IDD, DD, or ASD population.
  • Communicate with other appropriate staff, supervisor, and agency personnel.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with persons served and family members/guardians.
  • Able to be creative in exploring new and innovative ideas.
  • Ability to work independently and use sound judgment.
  • For INDIANA Providers: Currently registered/licensed with the Health Professions Bureau of Indiana.
  • For community services: Have a valid driver’s license and ability to drive to and from each visit, therapy session, or Individual Family Service Plan site.
  • Have a reliable form of transportation.
  • Participate in required LOGAN trainings and in-service experiences.
  • Indiana only: Enrolled in the state of Indiana as First Steps provider.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds throughout a therapeutic session.

Responsibilities

  • Provides evaluation and treatment of expressive and receptive language abilities, cognitive skills, and oral motor functioning in a variety of settings.
  • Develops treatment plans and outcomes reflected in each child’s treatment plan and Individual Family Service Plan (if applicable in Indiana).
  • Uses therapeutic modalities and procedures to maintain/increase skills.
  • Communicates with staff and families regarding evaluation results, treatment, and progress.
  • Provides parent training and makes suggestions for home programming.
  • Supervises and manages a team of full-time, part-time, and PRN status staff.
  • Maintains a caseload and reviews treatment plans, SOAP notes, and completes required approvals.
  • Holds group and 1-to-1 meetings and participates in employment and clinical reviews.
  • Monitors caseloads.
  • Participates in LOGAN management training.
  • Assists in evaluating persons served with other therapists or individually.
  • Communicates the results of the assessment/screening as directed.
  • Determines each client's needs with the client's family and in direct consultation with other professionals.
  • Collaborates with the family and provides individual therapy when appropriate to maintain or enhance speech and language abilities or training to improve/maintain feeding and pre-feeding skills.
  • Facilitates the growth of the client's parents as teachers by providing resources and support.
  • Works directly and collaboratively with other LOGAN staff and external service providers to develop, implement, and measure therapeutic goals.
  • Communicates effectively with other staff, agencies, community programs, persons served, and their parents/guardians.
  • Keeps daily progress notes, makes reports on client progress in accordance with authorization limits or reporting timelines required by the authorizing payor.
  • Maintains records of evaluations, treatments sessions, home visits, etc.
  • Completes a discharge report and/or exit skills summary for all children.
  • Participates in case conferences, staff meetings, parent group meetings when requested.
  • Participates with other team members in writing treatment plans and annual Individualized Family Service Plans.
  • Attends appropriate workshops and conferences to increase professional effectiveness and meet credentialing requirements.
  • Serves as a resource person for information on auditory perception, positioning, oral motor, feeding, speech and language development, and augmentative and alternative communication.
  • Participates and collaborates with other team members in developing appropriate outcomes and goals.
  • Provides reports and written programs to families and other professionals.
  • Responsible for the health and safety of the people served.
  • Serves as an advocate and protects the rights of persons served.
  • Participates in training as required by their supervisor and those required for all LOGAN staff.
  • Maintains all reporting and therapeutic requirements as outlined by contracted payors.
  • Supervises professional staff in Therapy Services, required to complete reviews, Paylocity monitoring and approvals, verification of team members services and meeting quality standards.
  • Provides feedback as needed, to supervisees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by their supervisor.
  • Plans instructional activities for clients and assists families in accessing community activities.
  • Furnishes all required monthly statistics on a timely basis.
  • Respects the confidentiality of persons served and their cultural diversity.
  • May be asked to serve on a LOGAN committee addressing the agency's internal operations.
  • Coordinates care, and works professionally and respectfully with internal and external therapeutic providers.
  • Performs other duties as deemed necessary for the betterment of the program.
