Jarrard is seeking a Senior Managing Advisor, Healthcare Communications, to lead key client projects for prominent healthcare brands. This role requires a strong foundation in public relations and earned media, excellent writing and editing skills, and demonstrated client and project management experience. The ideal candidate will have deep healthcare communications experience, be adept at developing media strategy, identifying compelling stories, and actively engaging in media relations and content development. This position is also crucial for guiding internal teams to meet client needs during high-stakes situations. The Senior Managing Advisor will sometimes lead client engagements independently, with guidance from a Vice President/Practice Lead, and at other times will collaborate with practice leadership on complex clients, spearheading tactical execution and material development. The role consistently drives day-to-day client work while ensuring high-quality output and a collaborative team environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s a plus) in communications, public relations, journalism or related field
  • Proven expertise working within the healthcare communications industry required
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing earned media strategies, including proactive media outreach and reporter engagement
  • Strong writing and editing skills across a range of communications materials
  • Experience providing strategic communications counsel and managing day-to-day client relationships
  • Agency or professional services experience strongly preferred
  • At least 5–7 years of experience in communications, public relations, professional services and/or journalism, with significant healthcare experience
  • Ability to work remotely

Nice To Haves

  • Experience and established relationships with national healthcare trade media outlets and reporters is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Partner with client leader (VP or Practice Lead) to drive the execution of program tactics and the hands-on development of program materials, leading the day-to-day strategy and execution of project work
  • Develop client strategy and program plans against the objectives and strategies of the client
  • Develop and execute earned media strategies, including proactive media outreach, story development and targeted reporter engagement
  • Provide strategic media counsel to clients, identifying opportunities to shape narratives and respond to emerging healthcare issues and trends
  • Lead clients to realize full potential, meeting all project objectives on time with the highest quality work
  • Lead communications and client partnership to ensure steady flow of information and client satisfaction; present key client updates and plans with confidence
  • Establish and maintain strong client relationships, helping to resolve issues that may arise
  • Create and review work, ensuring the work is client-ready
  • Actively explore opportunities to organically grow existing client relationships
  • Identify opportunities for continuous quality improvement within the team
  • Provide daily team advising and supervision
  • Lead monthly/weekly staff planning and tracking, including timely communications to internal leaders
  • Grow current client business by identifying additional needs we can serve well
  • Participate in new business development and pitches, as appropriate
  • In collaboration with Practice leadership, contribute to pitch strategy and proposal development for targeted opportunities
  • Ensure appropriate colleagues are brought into organic growth opportunities
  • Capture and transfer best practices in key client management
  • Actively participate in appropriate firm management meetings and/or discussions
