About The Position

BDO Canada LLP is seeking a Senior Manager to join our Valuations & Modelling team in Kitchener-Waterloo. This role focuses on expanding business opportunities and providing valuation services to clients in areas such as Business Valuations, Litigation Support, Investment Entity Reviews, Fairness Opinions, Audit Assistance, and Financial Instruments. BDO Canada's clients range from start-ups to large corporations across various industries, leveraging a global network for expertise.

Requirements

• Strong business acumen with a deep interest in equity and debt markets, economics (local and global), and general finance.
• Exceptional understanding of valuation methodologies and financial analysis.
• Completed a bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field (e.g., accounting and/or finance).
• A minimum of 7 years of professional experience, including 5+ years of direct valuation expertise.
• CBV designated.

Nice To Haves

• CPA/CA or CFA designations are considered assets.
• Experience supporting business valuation and litigation support engagements for family law and/or commercial matters (considered an asset).

Responsibilities

• Manage business valuation engagements for financial planning, compliance, tax planning, and transaction advisory purposes.
• Provide strategic guidance on mandates involving the sale of businesses.
• Manage litigation support engagements including family law matters and commercial disputes.
• Lead investment entity and investment holding entity reviews in accordance with CBV standards for large enterprise clients and institutional investors.
• Lead fairness opinion projects providing objective and independent analysis.
• Assist BDO assurance practice in validating the fair value of assets and liabilities.
• Provide valuation expertise using binomial models, Monte-Carlo simulations, hedge accounting for complex financial instruments.
• Mentor and guide team members, including CBVs and CBV students.
• Provide ongoing training to enhance technical and professional skills.
• Oversee projects to ensure timely and high-quality delivery within scope and budget.
• Analyze data and provide informed recommendations to clients.
• Deliver clear, well-supported valuation reports tailored to client needs and aligned with professional standards.
• Build and maintain strong client and referral source relationships.
• Pursue business development initiatives, including responding to RFPs and creating high-quality proposals.
• Collaborate with clients and partners to identify and cultivate value-added opportunities.
• Develop and share thought leadership articles to enhance brand and service awareness.
