Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance/Business or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of recent verifiable experience in an accounting Manager role including accounting research/technical accounting analysis within a large multi-national firm.
  • Proficient in personal computer skills.
  • Strong research, interpersonal, and project management skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of US GAAP and ability to understand and interpret complex accounting guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform independent research of complex accounting transactions and prepare/review technical accounting memos.
  • Review research and documentation performed by senior technical accountants and provide timely feedback.
  • Provide support to internal and external audits.
  • Build relationships with generating plants, cross-functional groups, and Corporate counterparts.
  • Develop Company-specific and industry knowledge to become a point of contact for accounting issues.
  • Delegate work as appropriate.
  • Lead due diligence and transaction reviews from an accounting standpoint for M&A.
  • Research, document, and review complex accounting transactions including derivatives, revenue arrangements (ASC 606), leases (ASC 842), and consolidation accounting.
  • Ensure conclusions in documentation and research are fully researched and supported.
  • Provide timely accounting analysis for proposed transactions and recommendations on deal structure to support the M&A team and Senior Leadership.
  • Serve as a lead accounting resource on M&A projects.
  • Oversee the updating and maintenance of the Contract Accounting Treatment system.
  • Provide supervision and leadership to more junior technical accounting staff.
  • Stay up-to-date on new accounting pronouncements and relevant GAAP issues, evaluating their impact on the Company.
  • Provide relevant information and accounting changes to other departments when impacted.
  • Prepare or participate in the preparation of certain footnote disclosures for public financial statements.
  • Participate in the review of financial statements for external filings.
  • Assist with information requests from external auditors.
  • Develop and maintain adequate SOX compliance related to technical accounting.
  • Assist in special accounting projects as assigned.
