Senior Manager, Tax and Treasury

Chainguard
$166,000 - $195,000Remote

About The Position

Chainguard is scaling quickly with more customers, more countries, and more complexity. We are hiring a Senior Manager, Tax and Treasury to build and own the infrastructure behind two critical parts of our finance function. This is a hands-on role for someone who wants to build, not just maintain. You will own global tax compliance, treasury operations, banking relationships, and the policies and processes that support them. You will work closely with Accounting, FP&A, Legal, Deal Desk, and other teams as Chainguard expands internationally and continues to scale. You should be comfortable operating as the subject matter expert while also getting into the details. We need someone who can manage today's requirements, anticipate tomorrow's complexity, and turn technical tax and treasury issues into clear, practical guidance for the business.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in tax and/or treasury, ideally with experience across both functions at a SaaS, software, or technology company
  • Strong working knowledge of US federal, state, and international tax compliance
  • Experience with indirect tax, including sales/use tax and VAT
  • Experience with core treasury responsibilities, including cash forecasting, banking relationships, liquidity management, and FX risk management
  • Experience building policies and processes from the ground up rather than simply operating within established ones
  • Strong cross-functional communication skills and the ability to translate technical tax and treasury concepts for non-finance stakeholders
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment where priorities evolve and the business needs practical answers quickly
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

Nice To Haves

  • CPA and/or Big 4 experience is a plus
  • Experience supporting software licensing or subscription revenue models
  • Experience with transfer pricing, R&D tax credit claims, or IP structuring
  • Familiarity with tax automation tools and modern ERP and billing systems
  • Experience supporting international expansion or building a global legal entity structure

Responsibilities

  • Own US federal, state, and international tax compliance, partnering with external advisors on filings, provisions, quarterly estimates, and related requirements
  • Manage indirect tax, including sales/use tax, VAT, and digital services tax, and oversee tax engine configuration in partnership with Billing and Product teams
  • Prepare and review tax provisions and financial statement tax disclosures, including deferred tax accounting
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for tax authority audits, notices, and information requests across jurisdictions
  • Own transfer pricing documentation and intercompany agreements as our legal entity structure and international footprint evolve
  • Advise the business on tax implications related to new products, pricing models, contracts, and international expansion
  • Identify and pursue applicable tax credits and incentives, including R&D tax credits
  • Monitor global tax legislation and regulatory changes and translate them into practical guidance for the business
  • Own banking relationships and serve as the primary point of contact for our banking partners
  • Manage global cash positioning, forecasting, and liquidity in partnership with FP&A
  • Develop and maintain treasury policies and procedures, including investment guidelines and foreign exchange risk management
  • Maintain banking compliance requirements, access controls, and signatory documentation
  • Partner with Deal Desk and Legal on contract structuring and other decisions where tax considerations could create risk or opportunity
  • Build scalable processes, documentation, controls, and infrastructure as the company grows
  • Serve as the go-to subject matter expert for tax and treasury questions across the organization

Benefits

  • Work remotely with team meetup opportunities, bi-annual destination summits, and a monthly stipend for coworking spaces, phone and internet costs.
  • Receive stock options upon hire and promotion. Plus, you can participate in secondary offerings and have 10 years to exercise your options
  • We cover 100% of your health, vision and dental insurance premiums for you and your dependents.
  • Take the time you need – to do our best work, we need to recharge and reset.
  • 18 weeks for birthing parents and 12 weeks for non-birthing parents, with the option to use it all at once or throughout your child's first year.
