About The Position

Cohere is seeking its first Senior Manager, Talent Development to establish and shape how the company develops its managers, leaders, and overall talent as it scales. This is a unique opportunity to build a function from the ground up, designing programs, frameworks, and operational methods for one of the world's leading AI companies. The role reports directly to the Head of HR, offering high trust, autonomy, and significant influence across the People team and the broader business. The Senior Manager will partner with HR Business Partners and senior leaders to cultivate necessary organizational capabilities. The ambition is to create a People function recognized for exceptional managers, outstanding leadership, and organizational strength that serves as a competitive advantage. Initially, the role is a senior individual contributor position with broad business influence, with the expectation of growing and leading a team as the Talent Development function expands with Cohere's growth. The ideal candidate is driven by solving real business problems, setting high standards, and creating valued programs for managers and employees.

Requirements

  • Ability to build capability, helping managers, leaders, and teams perform at their best.
  • Commercial thinking, focusing on solving business problems rather than just delivering training.
  • Passion for building practical programs from zero to one.
  • Skill in influencing through partnership, working effectively with leaders and PBPs.
  • Ability to balance strategy and execution, comfortable designing the vision while delivering it.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and operating in fast-moving environments.
