About The Position

The Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities (SETC) organization is currently hiring a Senior Manager, Systems Engineering – SETC Effectors. The Senior Manager, Systems Engineering role is critical to the success of multiple efforts within the SM-6 Blk IA NAVAIR family and SETC Section Lead. On average the Section Lead role is estimated to require 3-4 hours per week and you will maintain your current program assignment. The candidate will be expected to actively participate in Department level leadership team goals and initiatives, support department hiring and program staffing, provide employee feedback and mentoring, and be actively involved in daily program operations. This role is 100% on-site at our Tucson, AZ campus.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM preferred) and a minimum of 10 years of prior engineering experience.
  • A minimum of 6 years’ experience in at least four of the following: Interfacing with customers, Developing & Refining System Requirements, Developing & Refining System Architecture, System Integration & Verification, Developing CONOPS, or Performing Functional Allocation.
  • Leadership experience.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Secret - Current Security Clearance
  • Active and existing security clearance required on day 1

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of systems engineers, providing technical direction and applying sound systems engineering principles across the full development lifecycle.
  • Own engineering execution for scope, schedule, and cost, with direct involvement in project planning, Earned Value Management (EVM), and risk management activities.
  • Update and maintain all system and subsystem level requirements specifications including traceability throughout the development life cycle.
  • Lead all verification and validation efforts to ensure all requirements are being adequately assessed during Formal Qualification Testing and Engineering Qualification Testing.
  • Identify requirement and verification plan deficiencies and propose solutions.
  • Lead all requirements management processes including Engineering Change Proposals and Functional Configuration Audits
  • Collaborate closely with the IPTLs, Lead Systems Engineer, Program Manager, and Chief Engineer on a variety of program technical tasks.
  • Make hiring and staffing decisions, conduct performance management, address personnel matters, and build a highly engaged, high-performing engineering team.
  • Partner with peers and leadership to plan and execute broader departmental and strategic initiatives.
