About The Position

The Senior Manager of Systems Engineering provides engineering leadership across all phases of a product’s life cycle, contributing to new product development, product improvement, and customer escalation resolution. The role requires a deep understanding of the technology underlying metrology tools, particularly full Mueller matrix spectroscopic ellipsometer technology. The manager leads systems engineers in productizing next-generation OCD Spectroscopic Ellipsometer Metrology Systems and developing technology platforms for advanced optical metrology products. The position collaborates across marketing, customer-facing teams, manufacturing, service, R&D, and suppliers. It drives new product introduction and customer qualification for high-volume manufacturing adoption, and supports product robustness, reliability, sensitivity, automation, uptime, and application expansion. The role also oversees technical support, subsystem characterization, escalation response, and preparation of training materials for manufacturing and field service teams. Travel expectations are up to 25%.

Requirements

Ph.D. in optical engineering, physics, electrical engineering, or another relevant discipline.
5–10 years of experience in the semiconductor capital equipment industry.
Thorough knowledge of spectroscopy, ellipsometry, and reflectometry metrology techniques.
Strong technical background and ability to communicate effectively and persuasively with customers, engineers, designers, and stakeholders.
Strategic thinking and a proven ability to integrate and lead diverse corporate cultures while delivering results.
Expertise in the responsibilities of a systems engineering team, including product JEP technical support, subsystem characterization, performance requirements, product robustness, reliability, sensitivity, automation, uptime, and application expansion.
Strong organizational, human resource management, and planning skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, agile, and dynamic environment, perform under stress, and work as a team player.
Strong interpersonal, teaming, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to travel up to 25%.
A pragmatic, results-oriented approach and a record of bringing new products to market on time and meeting requirements.

Responsibilities

Provide engineering leadership in the physics, optimization, and technical problem-solving of full Mueller matrix spectroscopic ellipsometer technology.
Lead systems engineers in productizing next-generation OCD Spectroscopic Ellipsometer Metrology Systems.
Drive development of new technology platforms for next-generation advanced optical metrology products.
Collaborate with corporate marketing, customer-facing groups, manufacturing, service organizations, and R&D groups.
Drive new product introduction (NPI) and customer qualification processes for high-volume manufacturing adoption.
Serve as the key contact for internal and external suppliers of critical components, including broadband light sources, lasers/modulators, and detection subsystems.
Oversee product JEP technical support, subsystem characterization, and performance-requirements generation.
Lead CIP design engineering activities to improve product robustness.
Support development that improves system reliability, sensitivity, automation, uptime, and application range.
Support system-related escalations from beta-site teams.
Generate documentation and training materials, and provide training for manufacturing and field service teams for product release and support.
Drive development of next-generation products leveraging existing technology.
