About The Position

The Senior Manager, Strategy serves as a core member of the Office of the Americas CEO, owning and advancing key strategic workstreams that shape IHG's Americas region agenda. This role works across all business functions (Commercial, Operations, Development, Marketing, Finance, HR, etc.) to translate complex business challenges into clear analytical frameworks, actionable recommendations, and executive-ready communications. It also works to drive recommendations forward to action and results. The ideal candidate brings the structured problem-solving and synthesis skills developed in a top-tier consulting or in-house strategy environment, paired with a strong bias toward action and tangible outcomes. This is a strategy role, but one that demands an operator's urgency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s / Master’s Degree (preferred) in Business, Strategy, Finance or a relevant field of work, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
  • 7~10 years progressive work experience in strategy, consultancy, finance, or corporate level experience with exposure to a broad range of strategy issues.
  • Structures ambiguous problems using hypothesis-driven frameworks and translates findings into clear, actionable recommendations
  • Synthesizes large volumes of information across competitive, financial, and operational inputs into executive-ready insights
  • Develops and stress-tests business cases, scenario plans, and strategic options at the enterprise level
  • Tracks market and competitive dynamics and identifies their implications for business strategy
  • Communicates with clarity and confidence to audiences ranging from working teams to C-suite and board level
  • Designs and delivers executive presentations and strategic briefings that drive decision-making
  • Exceptional written communication skills, including experience drafting executive memos, strategic briefs, and leadership narratives
  • Influences outcomes and advances priorities without direct authority over delivering teams
  • Strong negotiation and conflict management skills across a matrixed, cross-functional environment
  • Moves initiatives from analysis to recommendation to action with urgency and accountability
  • Manages multiple workstreams simultaneously, maintaining momentum and stakeholder alignment
  • Builds trusted relationships across all Americas business functions and at all organizational levels
  • Designs and facilitates working sessions and strategic workshops with diverse, cross-functional participants
  • Integrates perspectives from functional partners to strengthen strategic output and organizational buy-in
  • Advanced research, data gathering, and synthesis techniques
  • Financial modeling and business case development
  • Expert proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including scenario analysis, and complex data manipulation
  • Expert proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, with the ability to build executive-ready presentations that communicate strategy visually and concisely
  • Project planning, scoping, and control methods
  • Risk identification and scenario planning
  • Business analysis and process assessment

Nice To Haves

  • Post-degree qualification and previous travel industry experience is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with hotel industry performance metrics (RevPAR, ADR, NUG, pipeline) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Own strategic workstreams end-to-end: Take full ownership of high-priority strategic initiatives from problem structuring through execution and measurement, operating independently across all Americas business functions and managing stakeholders at all levels.
  • Drive analysis to action: Lead rigorous, hypothesis-driven analyses on complex business questions, with an expectation that recommendations are not just well-supported but are advanced actively, with clear next steps, owners, and timelines.
  • Executive communication and storytelling: Develop materials for the Americas CEO and senior leadership, including board-level presentations, strategic briefings, and stakeholder communications, with a consistent emphasis on clarity and executive readiness.
  • Competitive and market intelligence: Track performance trends, competitive moves, and market dynamics across the Americas hotel landscape. Translate external signals into timely implications and recommended responses for IHG's strategy.
  • Cross-functional strategic coordination: Partner across all Americas functions to align priorities, remove obstacles, and maintain momentum on strategic initiatives. Serve as a connective layer between the CEO's office and the broader organization.
  • Strategic planning: Contribute to the Americas annual and long-range planning processes, including initiative prioritization and cross-functional alignment. Ensure the strategic agenda stays visible and progressing throughout the year.
