About The Position

Misen is seeking a hands-on Senior Manager, Sourcing & Procurement to own supplier sourcing, development, and management and help bring consumer kitchen products from concept through production. The role partners closely with Product Development to refine specifications, iterate on samples, and resolve engineering and cost tradeoffs. It owns supplier options, end-to-end RFPs and negotiations, development timelines, forecasts, purchase orders, and supplier performance. The position is an individual contributor role requiring direct supplier outreach, sample evaluation, factory coordination, and pricing negotiations. Most suppliers are in China, so regular early-morning or evening calls are part of the role. The position is remote and open to candidates anywhere in the US. Occasional travel to supplier facilities may be required.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience in sourcing, procurement, or product development operations at a DTC/CPG brand or consumer hard-goods company, with meaningful direct experience in kitchenware, home goods, or a closely adjacent category.
  • Proven experience running RFPs and negotiating directly with overseas manufacturers, ideally in China, with quantifiable product-cost reduction results.
  • Hands-on experience owning product development timelines from sampling through mass production.
  • Experience building demand or purchasing forecasts and using them to plan orders and supplier capacity.
  • Working Excel skills, including building trackers, cost comparisons, and forecasts.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple suppliers, products, and timelines without losing detail.
  • Ability to take ownership, make decisions, follow through independently, and keep leadership informed of material risks.
  • Comfort working as an individual contributor and personally handling supplier outreach and negotiations.
  • Willingness to take regular early-morning or evening calls to accommodate supplier time zones.

Nice To Haves

  • Mandarin language skills.
  • Experience with cookware materials such as stainless steel, carbon steel, ceramics, and glass, including value engineering or material substitution to reduce cost.
  • Working knowledge of product testing and compliance requirements for food-contact products, including FDA, California Proposition 65, and state PFAS laws.
  • Experience navigating tariff exposure and landed-cost modeling, including FOB and DDP freight terms.
  • Comfort traveling internationally to supplier facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, vet, and onboard manufacturing partners across cookware, cutlery, tableware, glassware, textiles, and packaging.
  • Prepare and run RFPs end-to-end, including specifications, supplier outreach, quote comparisons, and recommendations.
  • Build should-cost models; negotiate pricing, MOQs, payment terms, tooling costs, and lead times; and track landed cost against margin targets.
  • Evaluate supplier capability, capacity, and risk, and develop backup supplier and country options where appropriate.
  • Own development timelines from first sample through pre-production and mass production, keeping Product, Compliance, and Marketing aligned.
  • Manage sample requests, revisions, approvals, and golden samples.
  • Partner with Compliance to incorporate testing into development timelines and ensure products meet applicable standards before launch.
  • Work with Marketing to set realistic launch dates and flag schedule slips early.
  • Build and maintain forecasts for new and existing products to inform purchase orders, supplier capacity planning, and inventory decisions.
  • Share forecasts with suppliers and identify supply risks early enough to develop contingency plans.
  • Own the purchase order lifecycle from placement through production, delivery, and payment; track forecasts against actuals and adjust plans as demand changes.
  • Serve as the day-to-day contact for suppliers and build effective working relationships.
  • Resolve quality, delay, and cost issues with factories and drive corrective actions to completion.
  • Partner with Operations, Finance, and Customer Experience on decisions involving cost, timing, and inventory.
  • Track supplier performance, including on-time delivery, lead-time reliability, and quality, and maintain documentation of supplier terms, contacts, and timelines.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation plus performance bonus.
  • Full medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Unlimited PTO and flexible working hours.
  • Remote-first team.
