About The Position

The Senior Manager, Software Engineering (CIAM) leads the architectural vision and engineering roadmap for Customer Identity and Access Management within the Software Platform Engineering group. The role leads multiple identity squads and technical leads in building, scaling, and securing highly available platforms for authentication, fine-grained authorization, SSO, MFA, and federated protocols. The position partners with Cybersecurity, Enterprise Architecture, Product Management, and digital channels to provide a frictionless, secure client authentication experience while governing vendors, sprint delivery, and system reliability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8+ years of progressive software engineering experience, including at least 3 years of direct people leadership experience leading software engineering teams or squads.
  • Proven experience designing, delivering, and operating large-scale, high-availability CIAM platforms and user authentication flows.
  • Deep technical proficiency with OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML 2.0, MFA, and SSO.
  • Demonstrated experience with cloud-native architectures such as AWS, Azure, or GCP; microservices; RESTful APIs; and reliable, resilient distributed systems.
  • Hands-on exposure to enterprise identity platforms or IDaaS solutions such as Okta, Ping Identity, Auth0, or ForgeRock, and managing hybrid identity architectures.
  • Familiarity with passwordless authentication, FIDO2/WebAuthn, passkeys, and risk-based adaptive authentication.
  • Proven track record leading complex identity migrations, platform consolidations, or legacy modernization initiatives with zero customer downtime.
  • Experience using and maintaining platforms on GCP, AWS, or similar at scale.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Set the multi-year technology vision and architecture strategy for the CIAM domain, translating enterprise priorities into a platform evolution roadmap supporting scale, resilience, and frictionless client authentication.
  • Build and lead multiple identity squads and technical leads, fostering engineering excellence, psychological safety, inclusion, and professional growth.
  • Govern the design, deployment, and lifecycle of authentication, fine-grained authorization, SSO, MFA, and federated protocol services while ensuring compliance with financial security and privacy regulations.
  • Represent engineering in cross-functional forums and partner with Cybersecurity, Enterprise Architecture, Product Management, and digital channel squads to align roadmaps and resolve architectural dependencies.
  • Establish engineering operating practices, including sprint execution standards, architecture reviews, system SLOs/SLAs, on-call rotations, and incident response runbooks.
  • Maintain five-nines availability for identity systems and ensure production escalations are remediated swiftly.
  • Lead technical evaluations and vendor governance for identity and access management platforms, including build-versus-buy decisions, contracts, tooling investments, and integrations.
  • Improve software quality, security, and delivery velocity through metrics-driven retrospectives, automated testing, modern CI/CD pipelines, and reduction of technical and architectural debt.
  • Promote technical innovation and knowledge sharing, including secure identity practices, passkeys, passwordless authentication, and resilient distributed system design.
