About The Position

As a Senior Manager of Software Engineering, Mobile (Android), you will manage an engineering team responsible for building scalable, reliable, and high-impact mobile applications that power Indeed's Glassdoor initiatives. In this role, you will set technical direction, drive execution of large-scale initiatives, and ensure your teams deliver high-quality solutions that improve experiences for job seekers and employers. You will work closely with engineering, product, and QA partners to align priorities, solve complex technical challenges, and deliver meaningful outcomes for the business. You will also play a key role in developing engineering talent, fostering an innovative technical culture, and shaping long-term technical strategy while ensuring operational excellence across the systems your teams own.

Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field and a minimum of 12 years of related experience; or a Master’s degree with a minimum of 8 years of experience; or a PhD with a minimum of 5 years experience
  • Significant prior experience as a Software Engineer working on native Android applications, using Android Studio, Kotlin, Android SDK, Java, and other mobile technologies
  • Demonstrated up-to-date expertise in leveraging the latest AI technologies for software engineering, including the ability to guide and advise teams on relevant approaches and applications, especially with regard to mobile development
  • Experience with automation, build pipelines, unit testing, deploying and maintaining apps on the Google Play Store
  • Proven ability to coach talent, helping them improve their skills and grow their careers. Must have a growth mindset, coaching focus, and ability to lead by example and build trust
  • Dedicated sense of ownership as a technical and product leader
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal for technical and business audiences

Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow mobile native engineering teams, supporting career development, performance, and an innovative engineering culture
  • Define technical direction and guide the design and delivery of scalable, reliable mobile applications on Android
  • Partner with product, engineering, and other cross-functional teams to translate business goals into technical solutions
  • Drive execution of large initiatives across teams, ensuring high quality, reliability, and timely delivery
  • Establish and maintain best-in-class engineering practices, including code quality, system design, testing, and operational excellence
  • Use data, metrics, and experimentation to inform technical decisions and improve product and system performance
  • Mentor engineering managers and senior engineers, helping develop the next generation of technical leaders
