The Senior Manager, Software Engineering, leads platform-level execution of software and AI/ML systems, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and roadmap milestones. This role oversees shared infrastructure, tooling, and frameworks to support scalable, secure development while driving full lifecycle management across multiple teams. The position champions DevOps practices, cloud cost optimization, and technical excellence, fostering collaboration across engineering, product, and data teams. With a focus on innovation and continuous improvement, this leader mentors engineers, manages complex initiatives, and ensures delivery of high-quality, reliable software solutions that meet business objectives. The Developer Tools & Infrastructure team is at the heart of Walmart Global Tech — building the CI/CD platforms that empower thousands of engineers to ship code faster, safer, and smarter. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
- 7 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
- 2 years’ supervisory experience.
Nice To Haves
- Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
- Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
- Knowledge of accessibility best practices and joining Walmart in creating accessible products and services following Walmart’s accessibility standards and guidelines for supporting an inclusive culture.
Responsibilities
- Lead platform-level execution of software and AI/ML systems, ensuring alignment with domain priorities and roadmap milestones.
- Oversee shared infrastructure, tooling, and ML frameworks to support scalable, secure development.
- Drive full software development lifecycle across multiple teams, championing DevOps architecture and CI/CD practices.
- Implement cloud cost optimization and enhance automation, telemetry, and tooling to improve reliability and efficiency.
- Mentor engineers, guide architectural decisions, and promote technical quality and compliance standards.
- Manage stakeholder relationships to align engineering efforts with business goals and track operational metrics.
- Foster continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance processes, tools, and products.
