About The Position

As a Senior Manager, Software Engineering, you will lead teams focused on improving the quality, resiliency, performance, and long-term sustainability of Schwab’s application portfolio. This role sits at the intersection of engineering leadership, AI-enabled software innovation, and operational excellence, helping teams identify technology risks, reduce technical debt, and accelerate modernization efforts across complex enterprise platforms. You will build scalable engineering practices that leverage AI-driven analysis to uncover opportunities for improvement, prioritize remediation efforts, and deliver measurable outcomes that strengthen platform stability and developer productivity. Success in this role requires strong technical leadership, sound decision-making, and the ability to collaborate across engineering organizations to drive continuous improvement. You will play a key role in advancing engineering capabilities that combine AI, automation, and modern software development practices to improve delivery speed, reliability, and business impact.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, including leadership of high-performing development teams.
  • Proven experience improving software quality, resiliency, performance, and operational excellence across complex enterprise applications.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud architectures, CI/CD practices, automated testing, observability, and application modernization.
  • Experience leveraging AI-enabled engineering capabilities to improve software development, code quality, modernization, or developer productivity.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and scale engineering organizations that combine AI-driven analysis, engineering execution, and repeatable delivery frameworks.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and influencing technical strategy across multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational leadership skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior hands-on software development experience with strong knowledge of coding practices, application architecture, and modern engineering standards.
  • Experience leading AI-enabled software development, modernization, automation, or developer productivity initiatives.
