About The Position

Salesforce is seeking a Senior Manager, Software Engineering for the Telemetry Platform within the Digital Enterprise Technology organization. This role will own the vision and execution of the Unified Telemetry platform, a critical data infrastructure powering analytics, machine learning, and experimentation across the company. The position is based in the United States and is ideal for a technical leader skilled in platform engineering, people development, and cross-functional influence, especially in the context of AI-driven engineering.

Requirements

Hands-on experience designing and operating event streaming pipelines at scale (e.g., Kinesis, Kafka).
Experience with raw/bronze, cleansed/silver, and curated/gold data layer patterns.
Experience building or owning multi-platform client instrumentation, including SDKs for mobile (iOS, Android) and web (JavaScript).
Strong background in schema-driven development, including schema registries, envelope design, event contract governance, and managing schema evolution.
Experienced people manager with a track record of hiring, developing, and retaining engineers.
Strong Amazon Web Services (AWS) background, including experience with Fargate, Lambda, Kinesis, Identity and Access Management (IAM), and Terraform.
Experience serving diverse downstream consumers (analytics/BI, machine learning, experimentation) with an understanding of their data quality and latency requirements.
Ability to drive alignment across engineering, product, data science, and machine learning stakeholders.
A related technical degree is required.

Nice To Haves

Experience with agentic Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) tooling (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor).
Familiarity with AI and machine learning data pipeline requirements (feature engineering, training data curation, real-time inference).
Experience with data quality frameworks (automated validation, anomaly detection, SLA monitoring for streaming pipelines).
Experience with distributed tracing and observability platforms (e.g., OpenTelemetry, Sentry, Datadog, Splunk).
Experience driving developer experience improvements for telemetry SDK adoption.
Familiarity with privacy-by-design principles (PII handling, data residency, compliance).
Background in experimentation platforms and their role in A/B testing and feature flagging.

Responsibilities

Own the technical roadmap for the Unified Telemetry platform, driving architecture decisions across unified client SDKs, schema registry, and the ingestion layer.
Lead end-to-end delivery of core platform components, ensuring reliable data quality, latency, and availability for analytics, machine learning, and experimentation consumers.
Build, grow, and mentor a high-performing team of engineers, establishing operational norms, fostering a culture of ownership and continuous improvement, and managing career development.
Partner with product, data engineering, analytics, and machine learning stakeholders to align on requirements, prioritize the roadmap, and drive telemetry adoption.
Champion the migration away from fragmented telemetry approaches, advocating for telemetry as a shared observability backbone in org-wide planning and technical forums.
