Workday•Pleasanton, CA
•$209,600 - $314,400•Hybrid

About The Position

As Senior Manager of Agent Trust & Security, you will lead an engineering team building the security foundations of Workday’s agent registry, including how agents are identified, how they connect to Workday’s security model, and how customers can verify what they are running. This is a hands-on technical leadership role involving design and code reviews, daily use of AI code generation, and product judgment about what the team builds. Workday’s AI Platform provides a registry where Workday and partner agents are described, owned, versioned, and managed. The team works alongside Workday Agent Passport, which gives agents verifiable credentials and attestations, to help enterprise customers understand what each agent is, who is responsible for it, and whether it can be trusted. The role partners across the agent registry, agent gateway, Agent Passport, product management, and Workday security.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of software engineering experience, including at least 5 years leading and developing engineering teams that shipped and operated production services.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience with security-critical systems such as authentication, authorization, identity, or security platforms.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong, current hands-on use of AI code generation tools and experience leading a team that builds with them.
  • Working knowledge of OAuth, workload and service identity, and access control models.
  • Product sense, with experience working directly with customers or serving as a technical lead shaping a security or identity product alongside product management.
  • Track record of predictable delivery across teams with shared dependencies.
  • Track record of hiring and developing senior and principal engineers, including teams split across locations.
  • Experience with multi-tenant enterprise SaaS.
  • Excellent communication skills, including explaining security designs to engineers, customers, and executives.

  • Experience with AI agent platforms or protocols such as MCP or A2A, or with LLM applications in production.
  • Workday platform experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, hire, and develop a team of software engineers, including senior and principal engineers, while setting a high bar for security engineering, design quality, and pace.
  • Shape how agents are identified, authenticated, and authorized across the registry, building on Workday’s security model and standards such as OAuth.
  • Work with the Agent Passport team on agent identity, credentials, and verification so customers can trust which agent is running and what has been verified about it.
  • Apply product judgment by understanding customer administrators’ and security teams’ needs and working with product management to decide what the team builds.
  • Partner with teams across the agent registry, agent gateway, and Agent Passport, as well as Workday security, to ensure security works consistently across the platform.
  • Make AI code generation central to the team’s development practices and measure its impact on speed and quality.
