About The Position

The Senior Manager contributes to the success of the team by leading the analysis of business requirements and the subsequent translation into functional specifications as well as writing and executing test scripts to ensure quality of deliverables. It is essential for the analyst to provide reference data expertise and build effective relationships with business units and development teams across RBC. The role supports data governance and quality controls, and actively participates in business and regulatory initiatives that have a significant impact on the firm and its clients. The position aims to develop operational management of data, focusing on improving efficiencies, reducing costs, and minimizing risk. This involves working collaboratively with CLMG partners, COO Group, Risk, IT, and Front office businesses partners throughout the bank to understand requirements and relevant business processes to deliver change and improve client service.

Requirements

• 3-5 years in Business Analysis, Data Analysis, or a related role within financial services.
• Experience working in a data-intensive environment with exposure to multiple source systems and complex data flows.
• Demonstrated ability to own and deliver analysis workstreams within larger programs.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong PC skills, particularly Microsoft office.
• Ability to work in fast paced environment with frequent distractions and changing priorities.
• High standards for accuracy and efficiency.
• Demonstrates initiative and seeks to solve problems beyond immediate area of influence.
• Ability to maintain strong attention to detail and meet deadlines in high-pressure situations.
• Facilitates cross-department information flow and best practice sharing.

• Proficiency in Excel including advanced functions.

Responsibilities

• Meeting with project stakeholders that require securities reference data to review, understand, and capture requirements.
• Documenting projects in a shared location to support knowledge transfer among team members.
• Documenting and reviewing ongoing support or controls required as the result of a project with the securities data reference data operations team to ensure a seamless transition from the project phase to the support phase.
• Working with the securities reference data operations teams to review and identify the root cause of data problems and work to address and resolve by implementing systematic solutions.
• Provide subject matter expertise within the securities reference data space to internal RBC clients.
• Writing queries to capture data in securities reference data repositories to support analysis and testing.
• Work with external data vendors to understand how vendor changes will impact existing processes and address impacts as required.
• Provide analysis in the selection of new external data vendors or new data sets from existing external vendors to meet project requirements.
• Staying abreast of industry standards, best practices, and relevant regulatory requirements.
• Work collaboratively with business partners, IT and CLMG alike.
• Be accountable to senior management around metrics, timelines & project expectations; prepare materials for distribution among senior forums.
• Strive to proactively seek out efficiencies in processes.
• Proactively escalate issues as they arise and coordinate with the leadership team to ensure that we are able to manage expectations.
• Optimize Securities Reference data processes to reduce cycle time, manual effort and improve both end user experiences and realize cost savings.
• Linking multiple functions and processes to a common source of data, reducing operational costs associated with maintaining multiple data silos through a single integrated reference point for trade processing and reporting.
• Maintain documentation outlining data lineage pertaining to all securities related reference data in order to support the expansion of operational capabilities across Capital Markets, aiding in the prioritization of process and system enhancements.
• Work closely with CLMG management and supporting teams, providing input on all initiatives impacting reference data applications and/or expansion of reference data consumption by downstream users to meet ongoing and evolving business, risk, and regulatory requirements.
• Support delivery of data remediation activities, finding innovative ways to both remediate and implement stronger data quality controls around data environments.
• Develop and oversee data quality reporting and ensure senior management is informed of data quality issues and operational risks that are identified as impactful to downstream processes or the business operations.
• Act as a subject matter expert on CLMG projects.
